CHAPTER 1

Introduction
BACKGROUND STUDY

Welcome to our survey on Jollibee and McDonald’s! These two iconic fast-food
chains have garnered immense popularity worldwide, each offering a unique dining
experience that has captured the hearts and taste buds of millions.

Jollibee, known for its joyful bee mascot, originates from the Philippines and is
famous for its sweet-style spaghetti, crispy Chickenjoy, and delightful Jolly Hotdog.
Its menu reflects a fusion of Western fast food with Filipino flavors, creating a distinct
and beloved culinary identity.

Mcdonalds the globally recognized golden arches, hails from the United States
and boasts a vast menu featuring the iconic Big Mac, crispy fries, and McNuggets.
As a pioneer in the fast-food industry, McDonald’s has set the standard for
consistency, convenience, and innovation in its offerings.

Jollibee and Mcdonalds are two of the most prominent fast-food chains
globally, each with a significant influence on consumer habits and preferences.
Understanding the market dynamics and customer satisfaction levels for these
brands requires a detailed statistical survey highlighting the importance of
comparative analysis between these two industry giants.

This survey aims to understand customer preferences, experiences, and

perceptions regarding these two popular chains, Your feedback will help us gain
insights into what makes each brand unique and how they meet the expectations of
their customers.

Jollibee enjoys higher brand loyalty among Filipino consumers compared to

McDonald driven by its cultural relevance and community engagement.

Rationale

culture, using slogans and miscode that reflect national identity and values. This
cultural connection fosters strong emotional ties and loyalty among Filipino Citizens.

is.

Discerning how many days we had to finish this was just under 3 weeks but
with a few setbacks we had to adjust time and had to finish the study in just 1 week
left, but hastily we limited our time and finished the research in a matter of 4 days.

No monetary expenses were wasted.

Limitations of The Study-

The limits of our survey starting from April 28 will end on May 20-22 due to

Methodology
Research Method

Quantitative research method- A method used for groups or individuals who

are then questioned and interviewed, but the specific method we used is Online
survey which imposes the questionnaire method analysis, giving us full control on
how we want the respondents to answer the questions we provide.

Research Environment

We decided the location where we conduct our survey will be in Uls, (Some
colleges) if possible , Kabacan and Kidapawan

Research Apparatus

The instruments used are as follows:

1. An gmail account on which we made and distributed the questionaires

through a google survey
2. And a Google docs where we collect most of our responses

Collection And Preparation of Materials

To prepare the materials and Proper Equipment used are as follows:

1. A Computer for The recipient of our questionnaires respondents.

2. Cellphones for backup In losing our work.

3. A Hardrive where we store our files.

Procedures

The way on how we did our research is based on a Quantitative conducted

research -

Conducting this research includes an Online Survey Following this we set

a time limit of 4 weeks in our survey collector which is google docs after receiving
these supposed responses we sort them in order to know which or what the
respondent answered.

The collector of our data was Google docs which piles them in a date of the
response, Its properties and the answer of the responder.

The questions said are:

1. What item do you usually order in Jollibee?

2. What Fast-food chain do you prefer more?
3. How much is your budget and etc.

Most of our questionnaires where sent at Kabacan ,ULS , Kidapawan and etc.

Statistical Tools

The Measurements we decided on using in our Online survey are Pie

Charts ,Percentages and rates

Bar charts are what we use for graphs of our collected responses.

Percentage uses a formula of Number of responses / Number of surveys sent and

the questiones asked.

A survey response rate below 10% is considered very low so we considered we

would have the rate at 35% so as we won’t fail the rates posed by the normal
Response rates.
