COURSE GUIDE
GEE 2: Gender and Society
1st Sem, AY 2024-2025
For this course, we will be using the shared syllabus by Asst Prof. Marilou Morales as our general
outline. However, there are few tweaks made considering your upcoming internship deployment.
For one, your final grade will be an accumulaHon of the following:
1. Two major papers (please see syllabus for the topic and submission format). Submission is
either on site or online (depends where you at during the due date). Take note that intellectual
integrity is HIGHLY expected in preparing these scholarly papers, which means avoidance of Chat
GPT, copy-paste pracHce and use of other AI apps. A grade of 5.0 will be given when papers are
not originally wriRen and literature used are not properly cited or credited. This is 30%.
2. Discussion Forums, which include group reporHng, recitaHon, and in-class acHviHes. For the
reporHng, each member of the group will be considered as lead discussant about your assigned
topic. While non-reporters will be called to share their thoughts, reacHons or arguments on the
subject maRer discussed by the reporters. In-class acHviHes such as pop quiz may also be given.
The target period to cover this is the whole month of September. All these are graded and will
comprise 40% of your final grade. PS- repor)ng must be interes)ng and engaging with a 30-
minute )me frame. Be cri)cal and analy)c.
3. Final Requirement, which is 30%, may be done individually, by pair or group. If the laRer is
preferred, you have the liberty to pick your partner or group mates (with 5 members max). Here,
you will submit a video featuring your performance/s of any Vagina Monologue piece by Eve
Ensler or Penis Talks piece by Ricky Lee. Audio and video quality are parts of the evaluaHon along
with your delivery of course.
