1
Incentre

2
Exercise
1. A triangle has vertices at A = (0, 0), B = (28, 0), and C = (10, 24). What are the coordinates of the
incenter?

Answer: (12, 8)

1
Area of △ABC = Perimeter of △ABC × radius of inscribed circle ×
2
Proof:

Important formula

3
Circumcentre

4
Key method for finding circumcentre:
Find the equations of any two perpendicular bisectors. Then find their point of intersections by solving the
simultaneous equations.
Exercise
2. Find the circumcentre of △ABC, with A = (–4, 2), B = (2, 4), and C = (4, –4).

3. A triangle has vertices at A = (0, 0), B = (14, 0), and C = (0, 12). What are the coordinates of the
circumcentre?

Answer: (7, 6)

Centroid

The centroid divides the medians into a 2:1 ratio.

6
Exercise
4. A triangle has vertices at A = (0, 0), B = (18, 0), and C = (9, 27). What are the coordinates of the
centroid?

Answer: (9, 9)
5. A triangle has vertices at A = (2, 5), B = (6, 5), and C = (4, 7). Find the equation of straight line passing
through B and its centroid.

Answer: x + 3y – 21 = 0

7
Orthocentre

Key method for finding orthocentre:

Slope of AB × Slope of CH = – 1
Slope of BC × Slope of AH = – 1
Slope of AC × Slope of BH = – 1
Then find the equations of any two altitudes. Then find their intersection points.
Exercise
6. The coordinates of the points A, B and C are (0,  8) , (3, 0) and (2, 0) respectively. D is a point on
AB such that CD is an altitude of △ ABC .
