Measuring Length
Introductory Message
For the facilitator:
As a facilitator, you are expected to orient the learners on how to
use this module. You also need to keep track of the learners' progress
while allowing them to manage their own learning at home.
Furthermore, you are expected to encourage and assist the learners as

are expected to identify, use,
estimate and measure length using
centimeter and meter.

In this module, you are expected to learn the following

 Identify the appropriate measuring tools in measuring
length and unit of length in m or cm.
 Use the appropriate measuring tool in measuring
objects in m or cm.
 estimates and measures length using meter or
centimeter (M2ME-IVc-26).

Let Us Study

In measuring the length, two units are used, the

centimeter (cm) and the meter (m). These are metric units
that are used to measure objects' length, width, height,
and thickness.

Centimeter is used to measure shorter/smaller objects

and written as cm. Objects of shorter lengths are
measures using a centimeter ruler.

8 cm 3 cm 6 cm
Meter is used to measure longer/larger objects. Meter
is written as m. One meter is equal to one hundred
centimeters.

100 cm = 1 m

Meter sticks are used for the measurement of longer

lengths.
