Course Code EDFS 23 Course Title Type: Practical / Clinical Credit Units 6 units
Internship

This course is a one semester full-time teaching internship in basic education schools using a clinical approach under the mentorship of a cooperating teacher. Teaching internship shall be

1. Uphold the highest standards in delivering quality and gender-sensitive instruction through continuous development of its facilities, faculty members, and instructional materials.
2. Provide students with relevant knowledge and appropriate skills in the fields of arts, sciences, education, and information technology.
3. Provide relevant and quality course offering for pre-service teachers to improve their performance.
4. Produce morally upright and competitive graduates who could be licensed educators or any allied professionals.
5. Engage in various research and extension activities that address the global trends and societal demands, being aligned with the goals and objectives of the university.

PROGRAM OF ACTIVITIES

Week No.
1 Attend the orientation about the student internship program

be oriented about the rules and policies of the cooperating schools, its learning modality and class routines

observe how the online/virtual class being conducted

begin taking the attendance of the students assume responsibilities assigned by the cooperating teacher (ex. prayer, simple games, etc.)
2 gradually assume responsibilities for one of the major content areas or have additional class
cooperating teacher continuously mentors, supervises and coaches the student teacher
3-6 continue assuming the teaching responsibilities assigned by the cooperating teacher
7-13 the student teacher has assumed the entire teaching load and preparation for all classes with the assigned topics/lessons by the cooperating teacher
14-15 some of the teaching loads are gradually being handled by the Cooperating Teacher to allow the student teacher to observe other online/virtual classes

the student teachers are given fewer teaching responsibilities

COURSE REQUIREMENTS
Internship Requirements:
1.
Face to face Daily Teaching - Delivery of teaching-learning activities and assessments based on the prepared lesson plan for the day
2.
Prepared Instructional Materials and Assessments - Compilation Activity Sheets, Reading Materials, Modules, Videos, PPT presentations - Online Quizzes, Long test, Periodical exam, Performance exams
- Demonstration Teaching Evaluation Sheets accomplished by the observers
3.
Final Teaching Demonstration - Lesson plan, activity sheets, instructional materials - Narrative Report, a documentation of the student teacher about his/her teaching-learning experiences through the program
- Student Teaching Evaluation form prepared by the cooperating teacher
4.
Portfolio – Copy of the Action Research

*All requirements must follow a Table of Specifications (TOS) and Rubrics for evaluation of student’ performance or projects.

CLASS POLICIES
A.
Attendance
Students are not allowed to have 20% or more unexcused absences of the total face to face class hours; otherwise, they will be graded as “DROPPED”.
B.
Classroom Decorum
During face to face mode
Students are required to:
1. wear identification cards at all times;
2. wear face mask at all times
3. observe physical/social distancing at all times
4. clean the classroom before and after classes;

5. avoid unnecessary noise that might disturb other classes;
6. practice good manners and right conduct at all times;
7. practice gender sensitivity and awareness inside the classroom; and
8. come to class on time.

During distance mode


Students are required to:
1. sign an honor system pledge;
2. avoid giving or receiving unauthorized aid of any kind on their examinations, papers, projects and assignments,
3. observe proper netiquette during on-line activities, and
4. submit take home assignments on time.
C.
Examination/ Evaluation
1. Quizzes may be announced or unannounced.
2. Mid-term and Final Examinations are scheduled.
3. Cheating is strictly prohibited. A student who is caught cheating will be given a score of ”0” for the first offense. For the second offense, the student will be automatically given a failing grade in the subject.
4. Students who will miss a mid-term or final examination, a laboratory exercise or a class project may be excused and allowed to take a special exam, conduct a laboratory exercise or pass a class project for any of the following reasons:
a.
participation in a University/College-approved field trip or activity;
b.
due to illness or death in the family; and
c.
due to force majeure or natural calamities.
