Urine Culture 17 JAN 2025

The medical report for patient Humaira Bibi indicates a urine culture with no growth up to January 12, 2025, and a preliminary finding of Escherichia coli with counts between 10,000 and 100,000 CFU/mL. Antimicrobial susceptibility testing shows various resistances, particularly to common antibiotics like Ampicillin and Ceftriaxone, while some agents like Piperacillin/Tazobactam and Fosfomycin show susceptibility. The report emphasizes caution in treatment decisions due to potential false susceptibility results for Fosfomycin and advises against using Nitrofurantoin for complicated urinary tract infections.

COMMENTS: [ Final Report ]
Mixed culture of probable pathogens.May be significant in cases of recurrent /
chronic infections.

Ceftriaxone,cefotaxime and ceftizoxime result indicates

cross_resistance/susceptibility with each other.

Please note that Fosfomycin results for E. coli are based on an automated MIC method
which can potentially produce false susceptible results in some cases, especially
for oral use of single dose fosfomycin in uncomplicated UTI, leading to possible
treatment failure. Treatment decisions must be taken with caution and be based on
unavailability of alternative agents.
