Work carried out;

 Counseling - individual session, couple therapy, counseling session.


 MAT - brief intervention, individual session, goal-serring, motivational, anger management,
psycho-education, short follow-up session, counseling session.

Activities and duties assigned;

 Removing and returning clients file in the records department in MAT clinic for consultation or
counseling appointment. I was able to learn how to open a new file for a new client and the
necessary documents required.
 Filling forms in MAT clinic, i.e., PHQ-9, dose decrease and dose increase. For PHQ-9, I was able
to understand a client's score in terms of depression, know how client's mental health is fairing
and course of treatment to provide.
 Measuring weight and height of infants and children below 2 years coming for regular clinics and
help in giving vitamins and dewormers. From this, I was able to observe, listen and interact with
the mothers and parents of the children.
 Measuring blood pressure and weight of HIV +ve clients in C.C.C. I was able to learn how to
measure one's blood pressure hence knowing that normal b.p should read above 90/60 and
below 120/80. For weight, I learnt how to calculate the BMI. The clients b.p and weight are
always measured at every clinic to monitor their health.

Theoretical concepts;

o Delay in response of attachment approval from head office.

o Health issues during the attachment period.
o Advances from some clients asking for my phone contact.
o Difficulty in sourcing clients.
o Adapting to work environment, needed time to understand the organization's culture, work
dynamic and expectations.
o Communicating and collaborating with supervisor and medical staff at first.
o Limited practical experience, as the theoretical knowledge learnt from school did not fully
prepare me for practical aspects in the organization. Lack of experience made it difficult to
understand certain tasks and assignments.
o Time management, struggled to balance work responsibilities, learning objectives and personal
commitments. Multiple tasks at the same time.
o Understanding my role within the organization.
o Learning new skills.

Developed professional growth, i.e., in terms of professional thinking, behavior, commitment and

Able to apply the cognitive behavioral therapy by helping clients identify, recognize and manage
negative thoughts, meaning their thoughts impact their behavior.

Able to communicate effectively with the medical staff.

During a difficult moment with a client, able to be flexible, imaginative and creative.

Able to know how to apply different interventions depending on a client; techniques, theories, methods.

Able to build rapport and relationship with client, so as to construct change.

Gained intensive clinical and work experience, developed work habits by learning from medical staff.

Able to have goal-oriented therapy sessions, hence help set goals with client.

Able demonstrate knowledge and current APA Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct,
address ethical dilemma.

Integrate theoretical understanding with practical knowledge of specific assessment and treatment
