DID YOU KNOW?


● A common noun names a GENERAL (non-specific) person, place, thing or idea.
Eg: cat, baseball
● A proper noun names a SPECIFIC person, place, thing or idea and starts with a
capital letter. Eg: California, Albert Einstein, Microsoft, Halloween
● Types of Proper Nouns: Specific people, places, countries, days, months,
holidays,

Write whether the underlined noun is common or proper. If it is proper, write it


correctly with capital/s.
Example: We will celebrate halloween on Monday. Proper - Halloween

1. We just took our cat goldie to the vet for a checkup.

2. During his vacation in New York, George visited the statue of liberty.

3. The students at Cambridge Elementary School have planted a tree.

4. Since Tina has a birthday in february, we are planning her a party.

5. My friend Roger told me about a big sale at Best Buy this afternoon.

6. Venus is one of the brightest planets in the sky.
