Brief Introduction
JT709A is a mobile asset monitoring and management product based on the JT701 electronic smart lock.
The product currently supports 2G/4G communication and has a built-in battery of 4500mAH. JT709A products
have been optimized and improved in low power consumption and functional design.According to the demand of
power consumption, deep dormant mode and tracking mode are added to the existing dormant mode.The default
50 RFID authorization cards will be expanded to 500 RFID authorization cards.In terms of security, there are four
unlocking methods including keyless design, SMS/Bluetooth/RFID/cellular network remote unlocking; In terms of

power consumption, it adopts low power consumption design and long working time;Built-in wireless
communication module, real-time online monitoring;Built-in GPS positioning module, global positioning tracking;
Security monitoring, illegal unlocking alarm and other functions.It is suitable for remote monitoring of containers,

Install Micro-SIM card(Ignore this section if SIM
card inserted already)
Use a special Allen screwdriver to loosen the screws of the back cover, and then refer to this article "Install the
Micro-SIM Card".
Please confirm the cellular communication module used by the current device with the sales staff of Jointech, if
the current device uses a 2G communication module, Please communicate with the local mobile operator and
confirm that the SIM card has activated the GPRS Internet access function and can connect to the Internet.
Place the Micro-SIM card that has activated the GPRS network access function into the SIM card slot and lock it
tightly.
The installation steps are shown in the figure below, insert the SIM card into the card slot and fix it:

Work Mode Description
Standby mode
After the device powers on, it is in standby mode. Once it is waken up, the device will work as expected. Wake up
methods as above can referenced.
The preset data upload time interval after waking up is more than or equal to 60 seconds, the GPS module will
sleep.
The preset data upload time interval after waking up is less than 60 seconds, the GPS module of the device will
work constantly. In this working status, the power consumption will be greatly increased and shorten the working
time of the device.
By default, if the remaining power of the device is less than 5%, it enters deep sleep mode. In the deep sleep
mode, the GSM module and GPS module of the device is closed, and only swiping RFID card, and charging are
able to wake up the device.
Notification:
After swiping the card to unlock the device, if the device detects there is no other operation, it will continues to
sleep and not be forced to wake up for 10 minutes. Insert the lock rope and the device will automatically lock.
Tracking mode
The device is in continuous working status, and the device still keeps tracking mode even when restarting, unless
the user turns off the tracking mode. When the remaining power is less than 5%, it enters the default deep sleep
mode.

The working hours generates based on the indoor test under normal temperature, without SMS wake-up, it
is for reference only. During the actual use, there will be differences due to differences in ambient
temperature, satellite positioning, and working modes. Please take the working time in actual use as final.

Unlocking by RFID authorization cards
When user gets the JT709A device, the two standard RFID cards have been registered as authorized
unlocking cards. After the device is turned on, place the RFID card in the RFID sensing area and swipe the card
the buzzer will beep, then the motor will rotate, and the user can pull out the cable to unlock;
If the buzzer keeps ringing for 3 seconds, it means that the current RFID card is not registered. Please
refer to this article "Query and add Authorization RFID Cards" section to add this RFID card to an unlock
authorization card.

If there is no sound prompt on the JT709A device, check whether it is in deep sleep mode or whether the
battery is exhausted, and please charge battery of the device in time.
Lock
Under normal circumstances, after the cable is pulled out, insert the pull-out end of the cable into the bottom
of the lock hole. When the device detects that the cable is inserted, it will automatically lock.

Disable/Enable SMS or Calling wake up function
It can be configured to wake up the device by authorized VIP number, phone call or SMS. By default, it is closed.
Please note that after turning on this function, the power consumption of the device will increase a lot.

On-site batch swipe card registration,after send this command, swipe the RFID card one bye one on site to
register the cards as authorization cards. The device’s buzzer will beep once swiped card successfully and the
on-site swipe authorization channel will be automatically closed if didn’t swipe any card in 1 min.

exceed the speed for preset value(default 10 seconds), an alarm data is triggered.
User can disable GPRS/SMS channel for each alarm type. Please configure the alarm switch function on the
Jointech Cloud Platform, refer to the "Manual of Jointech Cloud Platform".

Device Maintenance
During long-term outdoor use, dust, sand and other debris will enter the device through the keyhole, causing
the device to fail to work normally. Users need to clean the device regularly to ensure their long-term work.
Proceed as follows:
1. Clean the dirt or debris on the surface of the equipment;
2. Pull out the cable and wipe the removable end of the cable with a clean cloth;
3. Use a clean cotton swab or other tools to put it in the keyhole until it reaches the bottom and wipe it left and
right.
FAQ
Question 1 The device cannot be working,leds are off
Answer: The battery may be in deep sleep mode
Solution Please charge the battery for 6 hours
Question 2: It cannot connect to the platform when used for the first
time
Answer: There may be the following reasons;
The host IP, port, and APN parameters are
incorrectly configured;
The device has entered deep sleep mode with low
battery;
The SIM card balance is insufficient and it has been
shut down;
The SIM card has no GPRS function;
SIM card has PIN code

Solution Use the ”Joint MQ” app to check whether the host
IP, port, and APN parameters are correct. Place the
SIM card in another new JT709A device, and
confirm that there is no problem with the SIM card
itself. It has been recharged and the GPRS function
has been activated.
