Filipino Inventions and Their Inventors
1. Erythromycin
Inventor: Dr. Abelardo Aguilar
Description: Erythromycin is a widely-used antibiotic effective against a broad
spectrum of bacterial infections, such as respiratory and skin infections. Dr. Aguilar
discovered the active strain of Streptomyces erythraeus in Iloilo, which became the
foundation for the pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly's formulation of this life-saving
drug.
2. Videophone (1955)
Inventor: Gregorio Y. Zara
Description: Zara invented the first two-way videophone, enabling audio-visual
communication in real-time. This technology paved the way for modern video
conferencing applications, revolutionizing how people connect globally.
3. SALT Lamp
Inventor: Aisa Mijeno
Description: The Sustainable Alternative Lighting (SALT) lamp uses saltwater as an
electrolyte to generate electricity. Designed for off-grid communities, it provides an

4. Jeepney
