Gregorio Ynciong Zara


(8 March 1902 – 15 October 1978) was a Filipino engineer,
physicist, a National Scientist, and inventor. He is known as the inventor of the
videophone, the first two-way electronic video communicator.

The video telephone invention enabled the caller and


recipient to see each other while conversing, laying the
foundation for video-conferencing.

Ramon Cabanos Barba


(August 31, 1939 – October 10, 2021) was a Filipino inventor and
horticulturist best known for inventing a way to induce more
flowers in mango trees using ethrel and potassium nitrate.

He developed a growth enhancer method by using


potassium nitrate. That helps the plant to develop early
flowering.

Edgardo Dizon Gomez


(November 7, 1938 – December 1, 2019) was a Filipino biologist who
was conferred the rank of National Scientist of the Philippines in 2014. He
was a professor emeritus for marine biology at the University of the
Philippines Marine Science Institute.
First national-scale assessment of damage to coral reefs
leading to international conservation initiatives such as the
replanting of corals.

Roberto Legaspi del Rosario


(June 7, 1919 – July 30, 2003) was a Filipino
entrepreneur who is best known as the patentholder of
the Sing Along System, a type of karaoke system he
developed in 1975.

Karaoke sing-along system as a handy, multi-


purpose, compact machine that incorporates an
amplifier speaker, one or two tape mechanisms, an
optional tuner or radio, and a microphone mixer
with features to enhance one's voice, such as the
echo or reverb to simulate an opera hall or a studio
sound.

Abelardo Aguilar
Filipino physician-scientist - He was born November 3, 1917 and
he died September 22,1993
.
Isolated a strain of bacteria which lead to the
development of Erythromycin, a broad-spectrum
antibiotic used to treat and prevent a wide range of
infections.

Julián Arca Banzón

(March 25, 1908 – September 13, 1988) was a


Filipino biochemist and a National Scientist of the Philippines.
Banzon is credited for his research in alternative fuel.

The production of ethyl ester fuels


from sugarcane and coconuts and devised a method of
extracting residual coconut oil through chemical means.

Angel Chua Alcala

(March 1, 1929 – February 1, 2023) was a Filipino biologist who was


named a National Scientist of the Philippines in 2014. Alcala is known for
his fieldwork to build sanctuaries and to promote biodiversity in the aquatic
ecosystems of the Philippines.
Artificial reefs are intentionally placed benthic structures
built of natural or man-made materials, which are
designed to protect, enhance, or restore components of
marine ecosystems.

Fe Villanueva del Mundo

(born Fé Primitiva del Mundo y Villanueva; 27 November 1911 –


6 August 2011)[1] was a Filipina pediatrician. She founded the first
pediatric hospital in the Philippines and is known for shaping the
modern child healthcare system in the Philippines.

Bamboo incubator, a makeshift incubator that utilized


two wicker laundry baskets of varying sizes. She put hot
water bottles in the space between the baskets to
regulate the temperature of the infants then added a
hood and oxygen.

Pedro B. Escuro
(1923) is known for his contribution to the
Genes of plants and their growth (Plant
Breeding) such as rice. He was honored
"National Scientist" for Genetic and Plant
Breeding in 1994.
Rice breeding having different type of rice, two
parents are crossed and segregating generations
are screened for the trait of interest. Milpal 4,
HBD-2, Azmil 26 and C-22 (upland) and C-18, C4-
63, C4-137, C-168 and C-12 (lowland).
