Q 01: MOOD and MISSION
1. Discuss material disharmony, spiritual harmony and its relevance to ISKCON
with reference to SB 3.15.33-34
Answer:

Material Disharmony:-as long as a living entity is pure, he is in complete harmony with the desires of the Supreme
Lord, but as soon as he becomes impure he is in disharmony with the desires of the Lord. When the people are having
the disharmony with the will of lord then they act on the platform of material sense enjoyment or vice versa. When the
people stooped in their sense-gratificatory desires then they themselves become the centre of attraction. In such case
people starts exploiting the other’s resources, conflicting/colliding over other’s interests, they starts creating their own
ripples of interests. Mentally succumbed with profit adoration and distinction and never gives a hid of other’s profit,
superficially adores others for own individual interest and starts developing the attitude of crab, puling other’s leg.

Just like the different stones thrown @river creates ripples in river due to the different central points and because of the
collision happens between ripples and finally ends with breaking other ripples. Similarly disharmonious behavior
aroused between two living entities due to missing of central point, Krishna will lead towards their own self destruction.
We often see the material disharmony from following examples.

1. Politicians who would like to hear self-glorification and like to take credits of everything: - Actually every living
being should glorify the lord and give credits to the lord by that they will be in peace and satisfy the lord. But when
these politicians starts self-admiration and wants to steal credits, in this endeavor they lose their self-esteem and
respect from citizens. As the administrator losses the respect from citizens then people are disinterested to give voting,
due to that some other ineligible person who is more exploitative and more corrupt person wins the election and he
plunders more wealth.

2. Killing of animal: - The Srimad-Bhagavatam explains that a peaceful, spiritually progressive culture rests on four
pillars-austerity, truthfulness, cleanliness and mercy. These four qualities indicate a state of goodness conducive to
spiritual aspiration. Unfortunately, the characteristic of this Kali-yuga is that men become inclined toward four basic
sinful activities that break these four pillars of religiosity, leading men into the darkness of passion and ignorance. These
four degrading activities, which cause humanity in this age to fall from the spiritual path into frustrated materialism, are
gambling, intoxicating habits, illicit sex, and animal slaughter and eating of animal foodstuffs (meat, fish and eggs).

3. Gambling

The first sinful activity is gambling. By Vedic standards, gambling is taken to mean not only betting with money
over games or sporting events, but also speculative, dishonest or illicit business dealings. The primary result of
such activities is excessive material attachment due to increased greed

4. Illicit sex

When one engages in sex outside of marriage, or even in marriage when not children but sexual pleasure is
the desired product, the result is that if children come, they are unwanted. "We desired only to enjoy sex,"
the parents lament, "but now this child has come, and we are being inconvenienced." Or, worse than this, the
father abandons the mother and child, or the child is rejected by both parents. Such unwanted children are
naturally brought up with insufficient affection and guidance. Lacking any kind of proper upbringing and lusty
because they were conceived out of lust only, they easily fall into bad association with demoniac people and
become dangerous to the society.

Spiritual Harmony and its relevance to ISKCON-In the Vaikuṇṭha world there is no disharmony
between the Lord and the residents. Therefore God's creation in the Vaikuṇṭha world is perfect. (3:15:33)
Just as there are many physiological constructions within the body yet they work in one order for the
satisfaction of the stomach, and just as in a machine there are hundreds and thousands of parts yet they run
in harmony to fulfill the function of the machine, in the Vaikuṇṭha planets the Lord is perfect, and the
inhabitants also perfectly engage in the service of the Lord. (3:15:34)
Māyā means disharmony between the living entities and the Supreme Lord, and Vaikuṇṭha means harmony
between them. (3:15:35)
Spiritual harmony means fulfilling the desire of lord Krishna. Krishna says in the gita that you can offer me a
leaf, fruit, water with devotion and I will accept it. Also Krishna asked us to prohibit certain things. , “thus being
petitioned by the personality of Kali, gave him permission to reside in places where gambling, drinking,
prostitution and animal slaughter were performed.” (SB 1.17.38).” so whenever we will follow the instructions
of the SPOG as it is then the spiritual harmony will sprouts within this material world and once the spiritual
harmony develops in conditioned living entity , they will no longer be conditioned and advance on the path of
spiritual realization.
In the Krishna consciousness movement(ISKCON) we are practicing such devotions life under the guidance of
our spiritual master and the Vedas, and because the process is pure, we are finding that we can strictly, but
without strain, abstain from these four degrading practices By fully engaging our minds, bodies words, work,
wealth—everything at our disposal—in the service of Lord Krishna we are actually relishing spiritual plea sure
in the culture of love of God am making progress toward regaining our eternal positions in the spiritual world
In the process, our society of devotee is naturally becoming peaceful and harmonious, showing that the
quarrel and hypocrisy of the Kali-yuga quickly vanish wherever sinful life is stopped.
