Course Title: English Reading Skills & Public Speaking


Credit Hours: 03

Course Contents:
Verbal Activities: Introducing oneself, situational conversation, making dialogue, describing person,
place and situation.
Reading Activities: Comprehension
Writing Activities: Letter and application; Paragraph and report writing
Sentence Types: Declarative, Interrogative, Imperative, Exclamatory, Simple, Compound and Complex.
Tense, Voice Change, Narration
Clauses: Noun Clause, Adjective Clause and Adverbial Clause. Nominal Group.
Head Nouns: Countable and Uncountable, Articles, Singular and Plural, Positive, Comparative and
Superlative.
Pre-modifiers of Noun: Determiners, Articles, Pronouns, Numerals, Quantifiers, Adjectives, Adverbs,
Noun Adjectives.
Post-modifiers of Noun: Preposition, Prepositional Phrases, Appositives, Adverbs, Participles,
Infinitives and Conjunctions.
Verbal Group: Head Verb, Transitive, Intransitive, Auxiliaries-Primary and Modal, Tense Systems,
Conditionals, Questions, Subject Verb-Agreement, Vocabulary- Synonyms, Antonyms, Homophones.
