Developer’s Guide to Eternity Mode
For Fargo’s Souls Mod, by Terry N. Muse et al.

Preface
Yo you wanna learn how to do a fucking emode run? I'mma teach you mf bitchass
easiest shit in the mf mod. game. fuck it, i dont give a fuck

This guide will give a step-by-step process of recommended progression steps and how
to make full use of the QOL features in Mutant/Souls for a quick run. The following are NOT
included:
● What loadouts to use (talk to Deviantt and buy Eternity Advisor for this)
● Most boss behaviour (read wiki or watch videos for this)
● How to beat a boss (do this yourself)
● Accepting failure as a step in the learning process (part of solving the skill issue)
● Healthy gamer mindset and not malding at confusing things (do this yourself)

DISABLE CALAMITY balance of both mods is ruined and ai

conflicts will happen when mixed, it is NOT harder it is NOT
cooler it is NOT a good idea until you've played both separately

Recommended Mods
● Magic Storage
● Recipe Browser
● Boss Checklist
● Auto Reforge
● Auto Trash
● Unlimited Buff Slots
Not Recommended Mods
These are mods you should not use while playing Eternity Mode for the first time. After that, feel
free to ignore this list. This list is not exhaustive by any means; generally, playing a new mod for
the first time you should only use that mod and a small number of quality of life mods.

● Any content mod (AI clash, balance issues)

● LuiAFK (overpowered options)
● Alchemist NPC (has its own content)
● imksushi (allows sequence breaking)
● Leveled (breaks AI)

General Tips
● Pickaxes suck. Boom Shurikens and Bombs/Dynamite are your friend
● Use Mini Instabridge to make arenas. In Hardmode, use 2 full Instabridges to make your
world-length skybridge arena.
○ A good arena has campfires covering it in pre-Hardmode and Omnistations when
available (Unicorn mount helps)
○ SPACE YOUR LAYERS, you should have half-screen distance between each
platform (stand on one platform and use Mini/Full Instabridge by clicking as high
as you can on screen, assuming you're not playing any higher than 1080p
resolution). Less distance will cripple your mobility when moving down
● PUT A TOP HAT SQUIRREL IN YOUR INVENTORY TO UNLOCK SQUIRREL TOWN
NPC. This is extremely valuable for multiplayer, it sells duplicates of the following when
any player in the world has them in their inventory:
○ Rare and hard-to-craft items like Cell Phone, Rod of Discord, Ankh Shield
○ Aeolus Boot components (but only when you have Aeolus Boots)
○ Enchantments, Essences, and Souls
○ ANY POTION WHEN YOU HAVE A 30 STACK OF IT
● Every boss will give you back a free spawner until you kill it, basically you have free
unlimited retries
● If you don't already know regen is meta, you're underestimating it
● Portable Sundial is pre-boss now!!
○ NET TRAVELLING MERCHANT AS SOON AS HE SHOWS UP. Shove him in
your storage whenever you don't need him
○ Check in with him daily until he coughs up Sitting Duck Fishing Pole
○ Use 45% power pole to fish up a Golden Crate (once you have Abominationn,
you can summon rain on demand to boost fishing power more)
○ Craft Golden Crate into Enchanted Sundial into Portable Sundial
○ Become the god of time
● Regal Statue is pre-boss!
○ Tim's Concoction makes Pinky drop Teleportation Potion
○ Increase Tim spawn rate by wearing a gem robe deep underground
● If you need to grind for a drop from an enemy, check whether Deviantt or Abominationn
sells it after you kill one

Game Start
● Talk to Deviantt. Receive Gift.
● Remember to ask Deviantt for help throughout playthrough
● Use these to quickly establish infrastructure:
○ Instahouse for town NPC housing
○ Mini Instabridge for early game arena (you will use this arena for almost every
pre-HM boss)
● Get Dye Vat and you can Bug Net your town NPCs and grind them up into Grim Dye
which sells for way too much and this will probably eventually be nerfed but until then
use this for quick money
● Spelunk until you can get a Life Crystal and explosives. Use them to break two Shadow
Orbs/Crimson Hearts to trigger Goblin Invasion. Make sure you satisfy all conditions for
an invasion before breaking the second one
● Defeating Goblins will allow Abominationn to spawn. Abominationn sells a summon for
Slime Rain, which will let you fight King Slime.

King Slime
● If you keep getting hit by the spike rain below 50%, you're doing something wrong. You
should probably figure this out on your own and remember to apply pattern recognition in
the future
● If you struggle with King Slime, get max life and/or find Goblin Tinkerer to get five
Warding accessories. Eternity mode increases money drops so this isn’t too bad
● Wow! You have already beaten your first boss! No spelunking for those stupid Rubies!!!
● King Slime drops:
○ Slime Hook (your very important mobility hook)
○ Slimy Saddle (fast hellevator travel)
○ Life Crystals (get to 400 life now)
○ Wooden Crates, which you WILL craft into:
■ Sailfish Boots (a proper sprint)
■ Tsunami in a Bottle (double jump)
○ Mutant (so you can farm King Slime)
● WOW! You have all your crucial mobility options already!!!
● Now that you have a stable Life Crystal supply, set up your arena floor with Heart
Lanterns and always carry a few Heart Lanterns on you. The regen helps a lot.
Eye of Cthulhu
● Get Hermes Boots or equivalent. Eurus Socks don’t suffice anymore. A hook and a
double jump are recommended but not necessary.
● Ignore most of the scythes in phase 2. They generally won’t hit you unless they fly
straight along the platform you’re running on, in which case jump
● In third phase, DO NOT PANIC. This phase is best dodged by moving slowly and
deliberately. Do NOT press random buttons and jump around just because you don't
know what's going on. Self-restraint and pattern recognition are important skills for the
rest of the playthrough too. Last time I'm saying it
● You beat Eye? Great! You receive:
○ Shield of Cthulhu (THE DASH)
○ Fallen Stars (you can now go ham in infrastructure like making Instabridges and
Instavators)
○ Dryad, which means GET 30 PUMPKIN PIE FOR UNLIMITED WELL FED
■ This is the unlim buffs mechanic, make good use of it as you go (potion
crafting comes later)
○ You can also farm Eye for gold from selling evil bars
○ Have you got Tim's Concoction yet? Drops from Tim, make him spawn by
wearing a gem robe and hanging out in lower half of underground (best odds
around 75% of the way from surface to hell)
■ Enemies drop potions while equipped
■ Look up the table, they're really good
■ Pinky drops Teleportation Potions which you can use to craft Regal
Statue

Eater of Worlds/Brain of Cthulhu

● If you don’t have Spectre Boots and a double jump or better by now, get them.
● FIGHT ON THE SURFACE.
● Use a multi-platform arena.
● Due to Mutant mod, you don’t need to stay in Corruption/Crimson for this fight.
● After defeat:
○ Corrupt/Gutted Heart accessories are VERY good at their jobs. Use them
○ The Lightning Rod is a good weapon
○ If you haven't by now, this is around the time you should chug a few
Gravitation/Featherfall Potions and scout Floating Islands to get Shiny Red
Balloon and Lucky Horseshoe. IDEALLY, CRAFT FART IN A JAR AND MAKE
GREEN HORSESHOE BALLOON (defeat a Giant Worm once and Deviantt will
sell its spawner, which you can use to farm for Whoopie Cushion. Finding a
Cloud in a Bottle is up to you though)
○ Eater and Brain are good for farming Money
Queen Bee
● 22
● funny
● laugh
● Bring a bucket to the Jungle and get some Honey. Dupe it at home. Set up honey
dips around your arena or, if you're more daring, use smart cursor and cover yourself in
honey mid-battle to keep the honey buff on yourself. It costs you little for massive returns
in longevity when combined with other regen buffs
● You better equip a Bezoar unless you know damn well what you're doing
● When Queen Bee sprays bees everywhere, move above or below her.
● Beat bees? Epic and gaming.
○ Jungle Crates craft into Anklet of the Wind, so craft Lightning Boots
○ Herb Bags (time to make those potions!)

Skeletron
● Just trigger the fight and Magic Mirror home, then use the boss spawner so you can fight
Skeletron at your home arena
● Below 75% life, its Baby Guardian attack depends on what it's currently doing. When it's
spinning, it shoots the homing skulls. When it's not, it shoots the wide spread.

Deviantt
● Use Nymph's Perfume unless you know damn well what you're doing
○ Heart Chocolate is craftable
● Attacks are chosen mostly at random. You can always distinguish which one she's about
to do at the beginning of each distinct attack, based on how she moves or where she
teleports among other telegraphs. Look for them. EVERYTHING IS REACTABLE. ONLY
MOVE AS NEEDED.
● When she stops in place and roars three times, look away or you’ll be petrified.
● Circle her to dodge shadowbeams.
● After beating:
○ Craft Aeolus Boots
○ Craft Supreme Deathbringer Fairy
○ Use Abominationn to summon Blood Moons and farm for Squeaky Toy, you don't
want to do this in Hardmode
○ This is a good time to craft Multitask Assembler

Wall of Flesh
● Disable Leveled mod. It makes the deathrays undodgeable.
● Craft a Double Obsidian Instabridge and use it to set your arena. To get the materials
you need to make that Instabridge, use Dynamite and nuke the hell out of hell and scoop
up the Obsidian Bricks
● Target the one vulnerable eye!
● Run away from WOF and jump/hover on the far half of the arena to avoid ichor.
● Don’t run past the wall of flames or you’ll be Tongued.

Hardmode
● WELCOME TO HARDMODE i hope you stockpiled crates. open them for hardmode
bars and other goodies, but mostly hardmode bars
● Unlimited consumable weapons works now. This includes Boom Shuriken. Get a stack
of 3996 or more and use it for mining from now on, it's way faster than any pickaxe
● If you haven’t by now, get Tim’s Concoction and use it to farm potions (drop table here)
○ Having 30 buff potions in your inventory makes the buff infinite, this should be a
target number when farming so you won’t have to do it again. In multiplayer, 30
stacks allow you to buy more from Squirrel too
● If you haven’t by now, get Aeolus Boots. Check in with Deviantt for Worm Snack if you
still need a Whoopie Cushion.
● To-do Checklist:
○ Upgrade forge and anvil
○ Craft Battle Cry for farming
○ Craft Portable Sundial if you somehow don't have it yet
○ Get Sands of Time (drop from Sand Elemental) for faster respawn from inventory
○ Bionomic Cluster in inventory is useful for everyone, but especially mage builds
in particular due to the Mana Flower effect. Again, duplicates in Squirrel shop
○ Get Omnistation!!!! Use it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Having Campfire, Heart Lantern,
and Honey buffs on you makes a world of difference for your regeneration. Do
not underestimate the power of life regeneration.
● Consider using Gravitation Potions while exploring the Underground Hallow - the ability
to control gravity means that Flipped doesn’t affect you. However, keep in mind that
when you’re confused, the left key will toggle gravity while the up and down keys don’t
(this is a vanilla glitch). Beware of Hallowed water and Giant Bats, or use Trifold Map.
● To get Rune Wizard, craft Rune Orb. To craft Rune Orb, kill Tim for his hat. Craft any
gen robe and wear it to increase Tim spawn rate (he spawns at around lava depth)

The Twins/The Destroyer/Skeletron Prime

● Fight whichever mech in whatever order
● Really the hardest part here is killing the first mech, after that you get Hallowed Bars and
Life Fruit etc. etc.
● Your to-do list after killing one:
○ Kill the rest
○ Set up a teleporter system
○ Don't worry about max Life Fruit, Plantera drops them plus Chlorophyte Ore (but
you can get max Life Fruit if you're struggling)
○ There's a recipe for Plantera spawn item

Plantera
● Reminder: City Buster exists
● Don't go too ham on lighting or you won't be able to see what's happening, use just
enough torches to see
● Use Bezoar/Ankh Shield unless you know what you're doing. You want to keep your life
regen positive.
● You can probably afford to move slower in phase 2 than you think

Golem
● Fight INSIDE the temple unless you like getting torn inside out.
● Platforms don't work during the fight due to Golem's debuff.
● Use Lihzahrd Instactuation Bomb for an immediate ready-to-use arena!
● Post-Golem is a good time to look at crafting the Elemental Assembler

Betsy
● After you’ve defeated a Dark Mage or Ogre once, Abominationn will sell a summon for
them. Use this to farm Defender Medals for a sentry staff
● ETERNIA CRYSTAL GAINS MASSIVE DEFENSE DURING WAVE 7 AS LONG AS
YOU’RE NEARBY SO DON’T WORRY ABOUT PROTECTING IT, JUST DON’T FLEE
● Yes, Betsy gives spawners until killed too so you only need to get to OOA wave 7 once
● You should probably do Betsy before other post-Golem stuff

Duke Fishron
● All of Fishron’s attacks reduce max life. Direct contact does the most. If you’re forced to
choose, get hit by something that isn’t Fishron.

Lunatic Cultist
● Cultist, clones, and Ancient Dooms (before bursting) don’t have contact damage.
● You should really have Betsy or Fishron wings for this
● Brainless circling gets you through phase 1, but slow down and react in phase 2
● You can craft Gaia Armor after killing Cultist
Celestial Pillars
● Pillars and their enemies can only be fought using the class they represent. If you kill an
enemy outside of their pillar’s class-sealing range, that enemy will not contribute towards
breaking the shield. Pillars will not take damage unless you are within their range. You
must fight using each class
● If you don’t want to grind a new armor set for every single pillar, use Gaia Armor
● Get at least one decent weapon for each pillar:
○ Flairon
○ Flying Dragon
○ Fish Stick
○ Snowman Cannon
○ Razorblade Typhoon
○ Betsy’s Wrath
○ Tempest Staff
○ Xeno Staff
● Useful accessories for each pillar:
○ Solar Pillar - Lihzahrd Treasure Box
○ Vortex Pillar - Bionomic Cluster
○ Nebula Pillar - Supreme Deathbringer Fairy
○ Stardust Pillar - Lump of Flesh
● DO NOT FARM PILLARS USING OUTSIDER’S PORTAL UNTIL YOU CRAFT
CHALICE OF THE MOON!!!!!!!!

Moon Lord
● Just use Gaia Armor.
● Vulnerability phases transition as follows (loops after the end):
Melee, Ranged, Magic, Summoner, Any Class
● You can also watch the translucent Celestial Fragments circling Moon Lord to clue you
in on the current phase. If they turn into eyes, any weapon works
● True Eyes are always synchronized, so don’t worry about timing their release
● WAIT, WATCH, AND REACT. Muscle memory of “run away in one direction” and “circle
the boss” aren't always the answer
● Memorize the pattern of the True Eyes and learn to see when they’re about to fire their
deathray. Stay to one side of them as they fire or you might get pincered between
deathrays moving in opposite directions. This is their pattern:
○ Shoot Phantasmal Bolts
○ Dash with Phantasmal Spheres
○ Spin and make Phantasmal Eyes
○ Phantasmal Deathray
○ Dash with Phantasmal Spheres
Post-Moon Lord
● I hope you crafted Multitask Center and Elemental Assembler already, because it's time
to craft Crucible of the Cosmos
● Change to all Menacing/Lucky if you haven't yet, if you need money do boss swarms
(Brain of Cthulhu is best)
● If you plan on farming, prioritize the following for increased loot and item range:
○ Battle Cry
○ Sinister Icon
○ Force of Will
○ Terra Force

● Now is a good time to use the Minimal Effects

Only Preset Configuration for your toggles (it's at
the bottom of the list).
● If you haven’t by now, put a Top Hat Squirrel in your inventory to make the Squirrel town
NPC spawn
● Energizers are acquired from beating a 100 swarm. Swarm summons are crafted by
combining an Overloader and a boss summon from Mutant’s shop (NOT the vanilla
summons). You need to use a stack of 10 swarm summons at once to get a 100 swarm.
Energizers will not drop unless your swarm is 100 or more bosses.
● Yeah yeah yeah yeah soul grinding is a chore, I'm complaining to the Magic Storage dev
person about recipe material detection and nested crafting which should help

The Champions
● While I strongly recommend fighting every Champion at least once on-tier, you can
certainly wait on farming them until after Abominationn is defeated. Soul of Terraria can’t
be crafted until post-Abominationn anyway, so you can postpone farming for Forces you
won’t use.
● For all Champions, you should have:
○ Boss swarm weapon (weapon crafted using an energizer and Luminite Bars at
Crucible of the Cosmos)
○ Gaia Armor or a full set of Luminite armor
○ Heart of the Eternal
○ Colossus Soul
○ Flight Mastery Soul
○ Your class soul
○ Solar Enchantment
● Forces are NOT needed
● If not playing mage, crafting Nebula Enchantment is recommended. Use Iron
Enchantment or Terra Force with it for best results
● Activated Fountains will satisfy the biome requirements for spawning Champions.
● A City Buster can clear space for underground fights.

Champion of Timber
● Phase 2 is centered around punishing excessive movement. Only move exactly as much
as is needed.
● Top Hat Squirrel laser rain can only be dodged under blocks or under the boss.
● Stay close to the ground to avoid acorns from phase 2 trees - they will shoot up faster if
you’re higher above them.
● Walking (NOT RUNNING) in a straight line neutralizes phase 2 snowballs.

Champion of Terra
● Reminder: City Buster exists
● The body segments take no damage. Focus entirely on the head.
● Fireball Dash is extremely useful for escaping if the body traps you in a bad position.

Champion of Earth
● Hands do NOT take damage; they block non-minion projectiles.
● Only move when forced to, especially in phase 2. Do NOT run away in one direction.

Champion of Nature
● Heads can take damage, so piercing is preferred.
● Body has no contact damage.
● Deathrays can be dodged by standing in front of the body and flying up as the rays spin.

Champion of Life
● Due to its low max life, Orichalcum Enchant/Force of Earth can be used with damage
over time debuffs. However, it is immune to Daybroken and Celled.

Champion of Shadow
● Shoot all of the Shadow Orbs to render the boss vulnerable. Minions cannot consciously
target them, so you may need your own weapon if playing summoner.
● DO NOT RUN AWAY IN A STRAIGHT LINE.

Champion of Spirit
● DO NOT USE GALACTIC REFORMER ON THE DESERT. IT WILL DESPAWN IF YOU
ARE NOT IN FRONT OF A BACKGROUND WALL.
● Using City Buster to make an arena is fine.
● Hands can take damage, so piercing is preferred.
● When grabbed, mash the movement keys to break free early.
● During its Hallowed Shield attack, it reflects projectiles

Champion of Will
● Doesn’t enrage if you leave the ocean biome.

Champion of Cosmos
● Honestly just pay attention to the boss and every attack should be pretty intuitive after
you’ve seen it once or twice

Abominationn
● Just use Eridanus armour
● If Eridanus is too distracting, use Gaia
● Post-Abom:
○ Craft Soul of Universe or Soul of Siblings first, whichever is easier
○ Soul of Terraria after those

Mutant
● Mutant Boss (Mutant Boss)
● Styx armor
● If you’re skilled and/or lazy enough, you can continue using Flight Mastery Soul and not
upgrade to Soul of Dimensions. Its main benefit is inheriting Colossus Soul’s stats but
requires a lot of grinding to get its parts.
● Good luck
● Try not to mald, it helps

Other Credits
● Fargowilta
● Potato
● Shucks
● Chiko
● Phupperbat
● Teragat
