Generalities
• The CVMP proposes two
modes of use: – An impulse
mode (paddles or lever). – An
automatic mode (push Auto).

Sensodrive gearbox
9
Presentation: Its use
• At stop:
– Speed changes are possible:
• from the opening of the driver's door,
• before inserting the ignition key.
– The accessible speeds, without the ignition on, are: 1, 2, N and R – The
default mode is automatic mode.

Start-up
• Prerequisites:
– Press the brake pedal.

• Neutral start:
– The driver can start the engine and select 1st gear.

Sensodrive gearbox
Presentation: Its use
• Starting with a selected speed:
– The clutch opens automatically (press the brake),
– The driver can start and accelerate.

Sensodrive gearbox
Presentation: Its use
The passage of speeds
• Impulse mode:
– The speed change is carried out, as desired, through the paddles or the
lever (N and R only with the lever).
– Two drives in a row allow you to jump in speed.
– At low speeds, the gearbox returns to 1st gear.

• Automatic mode:
– The calculator operates in a self-adaptive manner.
– Maximum retrograde in case of kick-down.
The change of mode
• Push allows you to change modes at any time.

Sensodrive gearbox
Presentation: Its use
• The paddles or lever allow you to switch from automatic mode
to impulse mode by selecting a normal speed (2, 3, 4, 5).

• Automatic mode is activated when the ignition is switched on.

Sensodrive gearbox
Presentation: Its use
– If the driver selects neutral (N), Auto mode is maintained.
The mode change (continued)
• In automatic mode:
The first (+) lever selects 1st gear in Auto mode,
EITHER
the first (+) paddle selects 1st speed in impulse
ROU
mode.

Another (+) lever or paddle selects 2nd speed in

impulse mode.

Sensodrive gearbox
Presentation: Its use
The change of mode (end)
• In automatic mode: ROUT
– If the driver selects reverse gear (R), the Auto mode is E
retained.
He
– The first (+) lever selects 1st gear in Auto mode
(A (+) paddle has no effect.)
IX
ALTE

– Another (+) lever or paddle selects 2nd speed in impulse

mode.

The securities
• Two contradictory mandates are ignored.

• Foot on the brake

– to start with,
– to select reverse gear (with vehicle stopped).

• Prolonged clutch slippage:

– the system triggers a progressive reaction allowing the situation to be
abandoned.

• Degraded Mode Identification
– The “Auto” and “Snow” lights flash

Sensodrive gearbox
Diagnosis

Control of defects
• Find the fault codes with the diagnostic tool.
• Presence of defect codes:
– Perform a reading of the fault codes,
– Make necessary repairs,
– Clear fault codes,
– Conduct a road test to validate the intervention carried out.
• Absence of defect codes:
– Perform parameter measurement,
– Perform the actuator tests,
– Conduct a road test.

Interventions
• The towed
• The calculator
• The clutch actuator
• The gearbox actuator

Sensodrive gearbox
Intervention
s
The towed

• Place the gearbox in position N (lever), or

• select position “N” with the diagnostic tool or manually, or
• raise the front of the vehicle for towing.

Sensodrive gearbox
Intervention
s
The calculator
• Respect the safety instructions.

• Before disassembling the computer:

– take a reading of the gearbox counter with the
diagnostic tool,
– note down the information that affects the
gearbox.

• After mounting the computer:

– Initialize the gearbox actuator BEFORE the clutch actuator.

Sensodrive gearbox
Intervention
s
The clutch actuator
• Attention:
– Do not hold the actuator by the push rod (1).
– Do not suddenly compress or release the push rod (1).
– Do not directly power the actuator with a 12 V power supply
(destruction).
– Do not operate the removed actuator with
the diagnostic tool (destruction).

41
Sensodrive gearbox
Intervention
s
The clutch actuator (continued)
• Mandatory operations
– At each assembly, make an adjustment in position using the clutch
actuator adjustment tool (ref: 4707-T).
– Perform an initialization at each disassembly/assembly.

• System failures
– Poor position adjustment causes:
• A reduced clutch life,
• Destruction of the clutch stop.

Sensodrive gearbox
Intervention
s
The clutch actuator (end)

• Initialization is required after:

– Disassembly/assembly of the clutch actuator.
– Clutch replacement.
– Replacement of the gearbox computer.

• After initialization
– Cut off contact.
– Wait 5 minutes after the combination has been
switched off (memorization).

Sensodrive gearbox
Intervention
s
The gearbox actuator
• Attention:
– Do not touch the removed gearbox actuator.
– Do not mount an actuator
who has suffered a fall.
– Do not directly power an actuator with
a 12 V power supply
(destruction).

Sensodrive gearbox
Intervention
s
The gearbox actuator (continued)

• Mandatory operations
– Set the actuator in the disassembly/assembly
position
for disassembly/assembly of the actuator.

– Perform an initialization after mounting.

• System failures
– If the gearbox actuator is blocked, remove it from its position and
perform the timing in the assembly position.

Sensodrive gearbox
Intervention
s
The gearbox actuator (end)

• Initialization is required after:

– Disassembly/assembly of the gearbox actuator.
– Disassembly/assembly of the gearbox.
