No End to Common Man’s Woes during Monsoon

-By a Staff Reporter

Kolkata, February 17, 2022: The long awaited Monsoon brings relief from the sweltering heat. But Monsoon and
suffering go hand in hand. Every year during the monsoons, chaos reigns supreme. The roads are flooded; the sewage
system collapses; water logging and breeding of mosquitoes together unfold lots of miseries for common people.

75 years have passed since independence but the Government has not been able to deal with this unending suffering caused
by monsoons. Recent floods have laid bare the hollowness of the claims of the civic authorities about their preparedness.
The poor have to bear the brunt. (Scape-goat)

The main cause behind this chaos is the lack of strict laws and accountability of the officials and the authorities responsible
for tackling the floods. A senior official said, “The Government formulate and pass strict laws to relieve people of their
distress but there is hardly a sign of effective implementation of the scheme”.
If the authorities become accountable, it can ensure to create foolproof systems. It can only happen through the
implementation of strict accountability laws.

2. Write a newspaper report on the blood donation camp organized at xyz area of North Kolkata.
