a) List the applications of Thevenin’s theorem. 2M
b) State Thevenin's theorem. 2M
c) What are the initial conditions of inductor and capacitor? 2M
d) What is transient? Write drawbacks of transients. 2M
e) Draw phasor diagram for simple RC series circuit. 2M
f) Define power factor for pure inductance and capacitance. 2M
g) Define Faradays laws of electromagnetic induction. 2M
h) What is the condition for resonance? 2M
i) Write any two applications of Two Port Network. 2M
j) Write formulas for Y- parameters. 2M
PART-B
(Answer all the questions: 05 X 10 = 50 Marks)
UNIT-I
2. Calculate a) the equivalent resistances across the terminals of the supply, b) total current 10 M
supplied by the source and c) power delivered to 16 ohm resistor in the circuit shown in
figure

b) State and explain the reciprocity theorem. Verify the reciprocity theorem for the 5 M
circuit shown below.

4. Develop the expression for DC transient response for R-C series circuit and draw the 10M
response curve.

The switch in the below figure has been in position a for a long time, At t = 4 s the
switch is moved to position b and left there. Determine v(t) at t = 10 s.

UNIT-III
6. A series RLC circuit containing a resistance of 12Ω, an inductanceof 0.15H and a 10 M
capacitor of 100uF are connected in series across a100V, 50Hz supply. Calculate the
total circuit impedance, thecircuit current, power factor and draw the voltage phasor
diagram

7. Distinguish between reactance, impedance, admittance, Power factor and susceptance. 10 M
A voltage v (t) = 141.4 sin (314 t + 10°) is applied to a circuit and the steady current
given by i(t) = 14.14 sin (314 t − 20°) is found to flow through it. Determine (i) The
p.f. of the circuit (ii) The power delivered to the circuit
(iii) Draw the phasor diagram.

UNIT-IV
8. a) Derive the relation between self-inductance, mutual inductance and coefficient of 5 M
coupling.
b) Two coils connected in series have self-inductance of 40mH and 10mH respectively. 5M
The total inductance of the circuit is found to be 60 mH. Determine: (i) The mutual
inductance between the two coils. (ii) The coefficient of coupling.

9 Derive the expression for equivalent inductance of parallel aiding. 10 M

UNIT-V

10 Derive the express for parallel connection of two two-port network. 10 M
