How a new generation has changed grief
Younger generations have pushed back on “stages-of-grief-thinking,” said
Flowers, because it implies that there is a right or wrong way to mourn loss.
Flowers, who was 21 when her mother died of lung cancer, said many dinner
party attendees find they’re the first in their social circle to experience a death
up close. And they’re often unable to find adequate support systems that
match their need to share the intimacies of grief, such as the strangeness
