Product #: VHG-BDBLEND-20P-20
Matrix: High Cetane Diesel Fuel Lot #: 1119552-7
Analyte Concentration and Uncertainty
B100 Biodiesel/FAME Certified V/V 20% (V/V) ± 1% relative
This solution is intended for use as a calibration or reference standard for the determination of biodiesel (fatty acid methyl esters)
content in diesel fuel by infrared (IR) spectroscopy. It is formulated for use with ASTM D7371 or EN 14078.
Certification: VHG standards are manufactured and certified under a quality control system that is accredited to both ISO 9001 and
ISO/IEC 17025. This standard was prepared gravimetrically to contain 20% (v/v) of B100 Biodiesel/FAME in high cetane diesel fuel.
The certified concentration is based upon the gravimetric preparation of the standard. The uncertainty associated with the certified
concentration is ± 1% relative, which is the sum of the estimated errors due to the assay of the raw material, the gravimetric
preparation of the solution and transpiration through the container wall.
Tools: The balances used in the preparation of VHG standards are calibrated regularly with traceability to NIST.
Recommendations: VHG guarantees the accuracy of this solution for 12 Months from the certification date shown below, provided
it is kept tightly capped in its original container and stored under normal laboratory conditions. Do not store in temperature environments
exceeding 95ºF or place in direct sunlight for long periods and avoid freezing. It is normal for solid particles to form if the product is
exposed to temperatures below freezing. If this occurs, please allow the standard to fully return to liquid at room temperature before
use. Minimize exposure of open bottles to moisture or high humidity. We recommend that the solution is thoroughly mixed by repeated
shaking or swirling of the bottle immediately prior to use. Fresh solutions should be prepared daily and any dilutions to lower
concentrations may have reduced storage life. To achieve the highest accuracy the analyst should: (1) use only pre-cleaned containers
and transfer-ware, (2) make dilutions using calibrated balances or certified volumetric class A flasks and pipettes, and (3) never pour
used product back into the original container.
