Part –A (5×2 = 10 Marks)
(Answer all Questions)
1. Identify four tasks in addition to relay switching operations that PLCs are capable of performing.
2. How does the processor identify the location of a specific input or output device.
3. Express high speed instruction used in data transfer operations.
4. Define and write the function of optical isolator circuit used in PLC I/O modules .
5. List basic math functions that can be performed in PLCs.
Part –B (13x2=26)
(Answer any Two Questions)
6. Discuss about the following configurations in PLC.(i) Fixed I/O configuration.
(ii) Modular I/O Configuration
7. (i)Draw and Explain the block diagram of SCADA. (8)
(ii)Explain the functions performed by the basic elements of DAQ System. (5)
8. Describe retentive on delay timer program with timing chart.
Part-C (14x1=14)
(Compulsory)
9. A conveyor is supposed to have exactly 45 parts on it. Three indicating lights used to indicate the
conveyor count status: less than 45, yellow; exactly 45, green and more than 45, red. The count of
parts on the conveyor is set at 45 each morning by an actual count of parts. There are two sensors on
the conveyor. One is actuated by parts entering the conveyor, and the other is actuated by parts
leaving. Develop a PLC program using compare functions
Or
10. Develop the ladder logic diagram and the timing diagram for the following: When the lights are
turned off in a building, an exit door light is to remain on for an additional 42 seconds. In addition,
the parking lot lights are to remain on for additional 3 minutes after the door light goes out.
