Chemistry Project! PDF

Microplastics are tiny plastic particles, less than 2 mm in size, that pose significant environmental and health risks, potentially accumulating in human bodies through the food chain. They disrupt marine ecosystems and can adversely affect larger animals and humans consuming seafood. To combat this issue, actions such as reducing single-use plastics, participating in clean-up initiatives, advocating for better policies, and supporting sustainable practices are essential.

What can we do to stop it?

To combat ocean plastic pollution, we can take several actions.

Firstly, reducing our use of single-use plastics by opting for reusable
alternatives, such as metal water bottles, cloth shopping bags, and
stainless steel cutlery, is essential. Supporting and participating in
beach clean-up initiatives can help remove existing plastic waste
from our coastlines. Advocating for policies and regulations that limit
plastic production and promote recycling will also make a difference.
Educating ourselves and others about the impact of plastic on marine
life and ecosystems can encourage more sustainable choices. Finally,
supporting organizations and businesses that focus on
sustainability and plastic reduction can drive larger systemic
changes.
