With this activity, you are expected to achieve the following learning
outcomes:

Reflect on the role of methodologies and strategies for foreign language teaching,
through the recognition of their own educational experiences.

The activity consists of:

Step 1: Reflective questions


Answer the following questions:

1. What is the difference between method and approach?


2. Have you had bad experiences in your English learning process?
3. Do you consider that a teacher can use more than one English teaching
method? Why?
4. What do you think should be the role of the teacher inside the classroom?
5. Why do materials used in English classes play an important role in the teaching
process?

Step 2: VLO Activity


Go to the learning environment in Unit 1: Early Methods, you will find the OVA named
Pedagogical Practice Guidelines and the OVA called Participant Observation. Check
the content of both resources carefully and solve their questions. Finally, take
screenshots of your answers.

Step 3: Forum Participation


Post the answers to the above questions in the forum for this phase.

Step 4: Feedback
Give meaningful feedback to at least one of your classmates in the forum. Read their
answers and make comments on the structure and content. Consider the corrections
made in the forum to improve your performance. You should give and receive
feedback at least 3 days before the end of this activity. Finally, take some
screenshots and add them to the final work. If you participate but do not send some
evidence, it won’t be considered.

For the development of the activity consider that:

In the Initial Information Environment, you must check the date and time of the first
web conference of the course in the link: “Synchronous meetings by webconference”

In the Learning Environment, you must participate in the collaborative forum Phase 1
– Initial Activity, share your answers to the questions and give feedback.

In the Evaluation Environment, you must deliver a PDF with:

- Answers to step 1.
- Screenshots of your answers to both VLOs.
- Screenshots of the feedback you gave to your classmates.

- Cover page – APA Style: student´s name, name of the course, code, group, tutor,
and university.
- Answers to the questions of step 1.
- Screenshots of your answers to both VLOs.
- Screenshots of the feedback you gave to your classmates.

Provide feedback to those e-mates who are active in the forum three days before the
collaborative forum closes.

2. General Guidelines for the Development of Evidence to Submit

For Individual evidence, consider the following:

• Students must deliver one PDF document with the answers to the questions of
step one, screenshots of the answers selected in both VLOs, screenshots of the
feedback given, and evidence of the process of ARL.

• Before submitting the requested product, students should check that it meets all
the requirements mentioned in this activity guide.

Please keep in mind that all individual or collaborative written products must comply
with the spelling rules and presentation conditions defined in this activity guide.
Regarding the use of references, consider that the product of this activity must
comply with APA style.
In any case, make sure you comply with the rules and avoid academic plagiarism.
You can review your written products using the Turnitin tool found on the virtual
campus.
