Activity 1: Essay Writing

Name: Sale, Condrad Jaimar G. Course/Block: 1st year BSCS / Block – A

Schedule: MW / 4:00-5:30 PM Date: February 05, 2025

1) What new ideas about mathematics did you learn?

The videos taught me that math is everywhere in nature. For example, shapes like spirals in

seashells or patterns in flower petals follow rules like the Fibonacci sequence. I also learned that

math isn’t just something we use in school it’s a tool that helps us understand how the universe

works, like how planets move. This made me see math as more than just numbers it’s like a

hidden language that explains the world around us.

2) What is it about mathematics that might have changed your thoughts about it?

Before watching the videos, I thought math was just about solving problems in class. But now I

see it as something beautiful and creative. It’s amazing how math can describe things like the

shape of a snowflake or the way bees build their hives. It made me realize that math isn’t boring

it’s actually full of wonder and helps us see the world in a new way.

3) What is most useful about mathematics for humankind?

Math is incredibly useful because it helps us solve real world problems. For example, it’s used in

building bridges, creating technology, and even predicting the weather. But beyond that, math

helps us understand the universe and how things work. It’s like a tool that helps us explore and

make sense of life. Without math, many of the things we rely on every day wouldn’t exist.
