CONLIB Saltanalysis1 20230617095819

The document outlines a systematic procedure for the analysis of a simple salt, detailing preliminary tests, group separation, and confirmatory tests for various radicals. Each test includes observations and inferences to identify the presence of specific ions such as copper, iron, and chloride. The final result indicates the presence of both acid and basic radicals in the given salt.

beaker Add distilled water to it. Heat the beaker with its contents on a
hot plate or Bunsen
burner, Heat the solution for few mins, filter it through a filter paper in
a funnel and collect the filtrate in a beaker. The filtrate is called sodium
carbonate extract.

Preparation of original solution:

The original solution is prepared by dissolving a small amount of the salt
in 10 to 15 ml of distilled water. If it is insoluble in water, it is prepared by
dissolving in dilute nitric acid.
