SIPL’s Expertise in LCA & PCF Domain:
Life cycle assessment: what is it?
Life cycle assessment (LCA) is a science-based
methodology used to evaluate the
environmental and social impacts associated
with a product or service from cradle to
grave.
The LCA methodology is a standardized,
which ensures its reliability and transparency.
In each life cycle stage, there is the potential
to reduce resource consumption and
improve the performance of products.
Product Carbon Footprint : what is it?
Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) is a critical
metric that measures the total greenhouse
gas (GHG) emissions associated with the
entire lifecycle of a product, from raw
material extraction to disposal.
It is vital for assessing the climate impact of
individual products. The ISO 14067 standard
defines the principles and guidelines for
quantifying and reporting PCF.
Steps of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA):
Develop an LCA LCA & PCF report
Get a Quote: Questionnaire:
study verification
Quote will be released Details Required:
based on production • Data quality • LCIA results
A detailed questionnaire
flowchart and number of • LCI data collection • Verify data
will be sent based on
products production flowchart for • Modelling • Reports follows ISO 14040,
data collection • Draft LCA & PCF report ISO 14044 & ISO 14067
Steps of Getting an LCA & PCF
Life Cycle Data Collection for the product
Data quality check & Life Cycle
Assessment Modelling
Draft PCF report preparation
Final PCF report submission
Methodology and Expected Project Schedule:
1. Project kick off meeting with Client will be organised immediately after receipt of PO and
advance.
2. Client team will explain manufacturing process flow chart of the product to SIPL team.
3. Based on manufacturing process flow chart a data required for PCF will be collected along with
client team. xxxxx.
4. Data gaps will be analyzed which will be filled with the help of published research papers, similar
LCA studies.
5. Modelling will be done and draft LCA report & PCF report will be sent to Aarti Group. xxxxx
6. Final editing if required will be done.
7. Final reports will be shared with Client. xxxxxxx.
Accuracy & Data Quality :
It depends on the data collection and data gap analysis.
Data Gap analysis :
Data quality can be assessed as per some data quality indicators, for example, data reliability, data
representatives, temporal correlation, geographical correlation, etc.
➢ Primary Data Collection: Collect direct primary data from suppliers, manufacturers, and other
product lifecycle stakeholders.
➢ Secondary Data Sources: In addition to primary data, use secondary data from databases like
ecoinvent, and others. Make sure the secondary data is accurate and relevant.
➢ Industrial Expert Judgement, research papers, & similar LCA studies: In situations when data is
unavailable, use industrial expert judgment, research papers, similar LCA studies, and estimations
based on comparable processes or products.
