1. A 47kΩ carbon resistor has a power rating of ¼ W. Determine;

(a) Maximum current which can pass through it.

(b) Maximum voltage which can be applied across it.

2. Study the circuit diagram below

Calculate:
(i) The equivalent resistance

(ii) The circuit current, I

(iii) Branch currents, I1 and I2

4. Figure 1 shows a series-parallel circuit connected across a 240V supply.


Calculate the:
(a) Total circuit current.

6. Study the following circuit

Determine: (3 marks)

(i) Base current, IB

(ii) Current gain, hFE

(iii) Voltage VCE

7. Figure 4 shows a transistor in common-base configuration. The Voltage drop across the 2kΩ resistor
is 3V and α=0.95.

8. Figure 5 shows a transistor circuit used for switching a 60 mA bulb. If the gain of the transistor is 200.
