2.40(b)(3)
Attending veterinarian and adequate veterinary care (dealers and exhibitors).
The attending veterinarian has not been consulted about several animals’ chronic health conditions. A juvenile capybara
was slightly thin, smaller than the others, with patchy areas of hair loss and crusty skin. An older female coatimundi was
unwilling to leave her indoor enclosure during this inspection. The animal exhibited reluctance to climb on enrichment
structures on previous inspections.
The animals need to be evaluated by the veterinarian so that appropriate care can be provided. Timely information on
animal health, behavior and well-being must be communicated to the attending veterinarian.

2.75(b)(1)
Records: Dealers and exhibitors.
The acquisition and disposition records at the facility are not being maintained as required. There are no dispositions
recorded for sales, donations and/or deaths of several species including two (2) wallabies, one opossum, one yak, and
one Hamadryas baboon. Additionally, there are no acquisition records indicating birth or purchase of several different
species on site including three (3) goats, one peacock and an adult camel. Accurate records of animals on hand, including
acquisitions and dispositions (purchases/births and sales/deaths) are necessary to assess the health and wellbeing of the
animals on site and allow tracking of animals being used for regulatory purposes. Ensure the inventory of all animals on
hand is up to date and acquisitions and dispositions are being recorded including animals born on site and any deaths.

3.81(a)(3) Critical
Environment enhancement to promote psychological well-being.
An adult female hamadryas baboon, “Wilma”, was found deceased by a zoo employee with bite wounds to various areas
of her body. As per the facility representative, the discovery of the deceased baboon happened sometime between
08OCT2024 to 03DEC2024.
Social incompatibility may lead to distress, anxiety, injuries or death. Nonhuman primates may not be housed with other
species of primates or animals unless they are compatible and are not detrimental to the health and well-being of each
other. Compatibility of nonhuman primates must be determined in accordance with generally accepted professional
practices and actual observations, as directed by the attending veterinarian, to ensure that the nonhuman primates are in

Environment enhancement to promote psychological well-being.
A review of the facility’s environmental enrichment plan for non-human primates does not include special considerations
for a singly housed chimpanzee. “George” lost his mate in November of 2023. Individually housed nonhuman primates
that are unable to see and hear other nonhuman primates of their own or compatible species must be provided special
attention. The facility must develop a written plan that takes “George’s” current circumstances into consideration. This
includes providing an enhanced environment to address his needs as directed by the attending veterinarian.
3.125(a) Repeat
Facilities, general.
Multiple enclosures are in need of repair:
• Fixed metal pipe with jagged edges remain exposed in the middle of the elk and waterbuck outdoor enclosures which
could cause injury to the animals.
• The fencing surrounding the outdoor enclosure for an adult male lion, “Pharoh” has the support poles on the inside of the
chain link fencing and not on the outside. The fencing was observed to be bowing outward from the frame of the
enclosure in some areas. This could potentially lead to detachment of the chain-link fence from the support poles
compromising the structural integrity of the enclosure.
The indoor and outdoor housing facilities shall be structurally sound and shall be maintained in good repair to protect the
animals from injury and to contain the animals.
3.131(c) Repeat
Sanitation.
Multiple areas around the facility are cluttered with trash, food waste and debris. This includes the vicinity surrounding the
hay storage barn and behind the wild cat and non-human primate food prep area.
It is essential that the premises are kept clean and in good repair. Trash should be placed in designated receptacles and
emptied as often as necessary to protect the health of the animals.
3.154 Repeat
Environment enhancement to promote psychological well-being.
The facility does not have a written environmental enhancement plan in place to promote the overall psychological well-
being of the birds at the facility. Exhibitors must develop and follow a species appropriate plan and include special
considerations for individually housed social species.
An adult female emu is being housed with the wallabies due to incompatibility issues with other emus at the facility. As
she is not housed with other emus, she must be identified as a special consideration in the environmental enhancement
plan. This plan must be approved by the attending veterinarian and made available for future inspections.
