Spectra Pro 5.10.34 Motor Control Update Procedure

Upgrading to Spectra Professional 5.10.34 firmware allows for a significant update to the pan & tilt
functionality. In previous firmware versions, when moving to a preset, the camera would execute the X
(pan) and Y (tilt) movements separately.

The new and improved Motor Control Unit (MCU) firmware allows the camera to execute both pan and tilt
movements simultaneously when moving to a preset. This firmware is an optional upgrade that is only
required if this new pan and tilt functionality is needed; this document details the two-step MCU firmware
update process.

1. First, the user must update the camera firmware to 5.10.34 or higher using any standard update
mechanism (WebUI, Pelco Device Utilities 2, or Pelco/Endura Utilities).
After the update of the camera system firmware, the camera will have the firmware revision set
to: 5.10.34 (MB:XX PB:XX).

2. Second, after upgrading the system firmware to 5.10.34 the user must update the motor control
firmware. This MCU upgrade can be only be accomplished using the camera's web UI under the
System>Firmware web page. Included in the firmware download zip file is the pelco_mcu_46.ppm
file, use this file to upgrade the camera's MCU firmware within the web UI. This must be done on
each camera in which the new pan/tilt functionality is needed.

After the update of the MCU firmware and Motor Control firmware, the camera will have the
firmware revision set to: 5.10.34 (MB:46 PB:15).
