About the Research Methodology Course (RMC)
Social Science research methods are
means of providing the evidence to examine
ideas that helps to enhancing exiting body of
knowledge and policy making. In the
transforming environment of society, economy
and polity, particularly after globalization and reforms, there is a need for
reorienting research scholars to address the contemporary issues in social
sciences with workable tools and techniques which has become essential to
maintain and promote quality research. With the explosion of
communication network, many more resources have entered to support
and facilitate social science research. On the one hand, it gives fairly better
exposure to what is happening in the realm of social science research and
it also poses challenges of tapping un-addressed areas with better know-
how and facilities on the other. However, majority of scholars pursuing
social science research in remote areas do not get opportunity to integrate
themselves with the innovative changes that are taking place in the realm
of research and remained largely trapped in the conventional framework.
Keeping in view of the several issues, the present workshop is to sensitize
the research scholars about the advance statistical tools and software and
to train them on their applications in social science research and fulfill the
objective of the workshop. The programme intends to equip the research
scholars with qualitative and quantitative tools of research and also to
provide operating knowledge of statistical tools and software.
Research methodology is a structured framework of conducting
research in order to address various issues to solve problems in a scientific
manner. For a high quality research, one requires to collect, interpret and
logically document the information. Selection of an appropriate tool for
data analysis and its meaningful interpretation will be a difficult task
2
without proper understanding of theoretical concepts of research
methodology and analytical methods. Quantitative and qualitative data
analysis using contemporary statistical techniques for conducting research
for better decision making is necessary. Knowledge of applied research
tools and methodology along with the use of software helps in integrating
research and practice. Good publications require more in-depth research
with sound analysis of data. SPSS hands-on training certainly enhances the
possibility of greater research and publication skills of all those engaged in
data analysis and research activities. So, this proposed 10-day Research
Methodology Course will be provide platform to train the participants on
innovative Social Science research methods, data analysis using SPSS and
academic writing skills through interactive and practical sessions.
The objectives of Ten Days Research Methodology Course (RMC) are to
provide training to the Research Scholars who are pursuing Ph.D research
in Social Sciences and enhancing their skills of different research designs,
data collection and analysis, data visualization, and interpretation of
results. This course will also help to maintain and enhance scholars
effectiveness and further expert instruction and guidance. In addition to
this, it create awareness about modern research methodologies. Another
thing to enhance skills to work with advanced software packages for
analyzing data using alternative software. And to develop capacity for
writing research paper, article and book through advanced writing
software.
