1. Letter to your friend to borrow some books from him.
Examination Hall,
City A.B.C.
January 05, 2025.
Dear Friend,
I hope that this letter of mine will find you in the best of your health and spirits. The
examination has come to an end and we have no activity to undertake for the time
being.I feel free like the high floating clouds but I have become as accustomed to
reading books that I find hard to kill time without books for the next few weeks.
"The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn,
the more places you'll go." - Dr. Seuss
we have got nothing to do expect to wait for the result.I know that you are so fond
reading as you have a fine collection of books on literature in your personal library. I
also love books on the literature. Last year I purchased a few books on the literature but
now I have read all of them. One of my friends has told me that you have recently
bought two new novels i.e Jane Eyre and Emma. I know that Jane Eyre is the one of the
most celebrated novels in English language. Charlotte Bronte is best known for his
mastery then Jane Austen is my favorite novelist. Six month ago I did her famous novel
Pride and Prejudice. I can lend you this novel if you want to read it but the purpose of
writing this letter is to request you to lend me Jane Eyre and Emma for a few days.
"A borrowed book is a well-worn passport to a thousand different worlds." - Peter
Matthiessen
I hope that you would not disappoint me.I promise that I will use your books carefully
and keep them safe. I will give you back in the same condition as they are.
Yours Friendly,
X.Y.Z.
2. Letter to your mother about your performance in the exams.
Examination Hall,
City A.B.C
January 05,2025.
Dear Mother,
It was an utter joy to receive your letter a few days ago. I am happy to know that you are
enjoying life in good health and spirits.
"All that I am, or hope to be, I owe to my angel mother." (Abraham Lincoln)
Dearest Mother,I apologize for not being able to write to you earlier. Actually, I was as
busy as a bee in preparing for my tests in English, Mathematics, Physics and
Chemistry. To my relief, they finally ended yesterday. My performance in the test was
very satisfactory. As you know, I am a bit weak in English Grammar. Presently, I have
convinced myself to devote two complete hours to this subject every day and you know
labour and hard work never goes waste.
"It is during our darkest moments that we must focus to see the light." (Aristotle)
I am sure that I shall make up my deficiency in English.I also hope to get full marks in
other subjects as well. You know that physics is my pet subject. In physics, I attempted
six questions. The answer to one question was wrong but it was extra. All the questions
of Mathematics are cent percent right. I hope that I shall get the first prize in Physics
and Mathematics and stand first in my class. I feel pleasure in informing you that I
attempted the tests well and hope for an excellent result. I own it all to your good pieces
of advice and encouragement. I only require your prayers. You should remain satisfied
regarding my studies and need not worry.
"A mother's love is a special thing, it's made of deep devotion and of sacrifice
and endless caring."
Best compliments to father and love to the young ones at home.
With best wishes
Yours affectionately,
X.Y.Z.
3.Write a letter to your father requesting him to hire you a private tutor.
Examination Hall,
City A.B.C.
January 05,2025.
My dear Father,
I hope that this letter of mine will find you in the best of your health and spirits.Three
months are left for the annual examination to take place. The time is very short at my
disposal. The courses are extremely tough and lengthy. I am unable to understand them
on my own. I fear lest I should get plucked. Therefore, I need the services of a good
tutor who may guide me in the subjects of English and Mathematics.
"A good teacher can inspire hope, ignite the imagination, and instill a love of
learning." - William Arthur Ward
Dear father! You know very well that I have been in the hospital for over a month.
Although I m fine now but my health does not permit me to put in hard work. I have
missed a lot of valuable lectures in the regular classes. The whole class has covered
most of the courses. It is only me who is lagging far behind. I feel utterly small when I
fail to answer the day to day questions in the class. Then I am scolded for no fault of
mine. The only alternative left to me is to allow me to engage a tutor. I fully understand
that it is an extra burden on your pocket, but I also know that you will sacrifice this sum
for the future of your loving daughter.
With a tutor's guidance, I can develop the skills to become a more independent learner,
just as Carl Rogers said,
'The only person who is educated is the one who has learned how to learn and
change.'
I assure you on my part that I shall do my level best to pass the Board Examination with
flying colours. I shall work very hard. I want the basic things are made clear to me. And
it is only an intelligent tutor who can guide me perfectly.
Please send the required money for the services of a tutor.
With regards,
Your loving daughter,
X.Y.Z.
4. Letter to your friend advising him/her to participate in games and physical
activities.
Examination Hall,
City A.B.C.
January 05,2025.
Dear Friend,
I hope that this letter of mine will find you in the best of your health and spirits.I have
come to know from a friend of yours that you have grown weak and are keeping poor
health. You work hard at studies and have become a book – worm. You do not take part
in games.
"Sports do not build character. They reveal it.": (Heywood Hale Broun)
Games and sports develop character and give health which are quite essential
for improving the quality of life, acquiring wealth and success. I may tell you that a
student must take care of his health also. His mental and physical development should
go hand – in – hand.Games and sports widen our mental horizon and make us true
followers of the rule of law.
“The first wealth is health” – (R.W Emerson)
All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. A sound mind lives in a sound body.
Games can teach us even more than books do. They can make us active and strong.
So make it a point not to neglect games. Play regularly so that you may do well in
studies also.I hope you will act upon my advice and start taking part in games.
Your loving friend,
X.Y.Z.
5. Letter to your friend condoling the death of his father.
Examination Hall,
City A.B.C.
January 05,2025.
Dear Friend,
I am deeply shocked to hear that you have lost your father. I went to college yesterday
and heard it from Minahil. The sad news came to me as a bolt from the blue. I can’t
imagine even now that your father is no more. I knew your father was bed-ridden. You
had told me this a few weeks ago. He was a very nice human being. He loved me as his
own daughter. Indeed,Words fail to console you. He will never come back. I feel much
for you. What pains me most is that your father died an unexpected premature death.
His death reminds me once again that none can escape death and undo the decree of
Allah. His death must be a serious shock to your mother, too.
“Life is pleasant. Death is peaceful. It's the transition that's troublesome.” – Isaac
Asimov.
Words, I know, are poor comforters. What I can say is that you should not break down
at this crucial moment. His death has thrown upon you greater responsibilities. But have
patience and fickle the situation depending upon the will of Allah. I feel sorry for you in
your sorrow.
“Those we love never truly leave us; there are things that death cannot touch.” –
J.K. Rowling
I pray that Allah might give you courage to bear this loss and peace foe the departed
soul, May his soul rest in peace. Aameen!
Ever yours,
X.Y.Z.
Story: An Arab and his Camel
It is wise to resist the beginnings of undesirable situations before they grow out of
control. The moral of the story "The Arab and his Camel" lies in the consequences of
yielding to small requests that gradually lead to larger demands.
“To make no mistakes is not in the power of man; but from their errors and
mistakes the wise and good learn wisdom for the future.”
Once upon a time there was an Arab staying in a desert. The Arab had a camel.
Everyday Arab used his camel for carrying his things one place to another place. Once
there was too cold at night. So Arab made a tent to take rest at night. That night the
Arab lay asleep inside the tent while the camel stood outside.
At midnight the camel awoke his master and requested him to allow him to put his head
inside the tent as it was bitter cold outside. The Arab allowed him to do so.
After a while, the camel asked the Arab if he might put his neck inside the tent because
it was too cold outside. The Arab did not object to do it.
Soon after the camel requested him again to allow him to bring his legs inside. The Arab
agreed. Now the camel stood completely inside the twit. But as there was not enough
space for both of them he pushed the Arab outside to shiver in cold.
Moral: Give him an inch, and he will take an ell.
Story: A Hunter and His Faithful Dog
“If we rush into things without thinking, we may end up making mistakes and
losing out on opportunities.
It is important to take our time and be patient, Or else, it can result in wastage of effort,
time, and money. This is why it is said as doing something in a hasty manner brings
waste.Think before you act.
Once a hunter had a very faithful dog. The dog had a special attachment to the hunter.
He had saved him from wild animals many times. One day, the hunter’s wife was not at
home and he had to go out for hunting leaving his five years old son alone at home in
the watch of the dog. His son was too young for the hunter to take him along to the
hunting.
During his absence, a wolf entered the house and made its way to the baby’s room. He
was to kill the baby when the dog sprang upon him and they both had a hard fight. In
the long run, the dog killed the beast and saved the baby from any harm.
When the hunter returned in the evening, the dog met him at the door. He saw dog’s
snout red with blood. As usual, the dog started licking his feet. The hunter entered the
house and saw more smudges of blood in the yard. He thought the dog had killed the
child. He flew into a rage, picked his gun and shot the dog dead.
“Whatever is begun in anger, ends in shame.”
On entering the baby’s room, he found his child safe and sound. A dead wolf was lying
by his side. The man realized his mistake. He felt very sorry for what he had done but it
was no use crying over spilled milk.
“Look twice before you leap.”
