WebEM Introduction
New web-based Element Manager since LTE18
SW Release 17 starts harmonization in object model for LTE and SRAN aiming to serve all technologies
by one code – Single OAM (SOAM).
Unified object model allows to maintain both LTE & SRAN BTS with one common management tool.

This feature introduces a new web-based Element Manager

for common SOAM BTS for: BTS
• SRAN since SRAN17A Element
• LTE since LTE19 Manager

Broadly, the Web Element Manager supports functionality of the:

• SBTS Element Manager (WebUI)
• BTS Site Manager (BTSSM)
• eNB ADMIN tool (LTE2883)

This new element manager is referred to as the BTS Element Manager (WebEM).

WebEM Introduction
WebEM’s anchor point compared to NetAct’s
• Within WebEM only one BTS can be observed at the same time.
- NetAct gives possibility to manage multiple sites within given cluster.
• One BTS can be observed by up to 10 users simultaneously.
- NetAct allows to operate more than 10 users in the same time.

Toggling Faults Blocking Rules:

To configure and apply alarm toggling rules, so that the operator can prevent the situation that single alarm is repetitively raised and
cleared in a short period of time. Alarm toggling rules editor is provided to facilitate this configuration

Tunning VSWR alarm thresholds:

To tune/configure the VSWR threshold value for raising minor and major alarms, so that the operator can control the conditions in
which VSWR alarms are raised for antenna filters inside RF modules. During the VSWR tuning procedure, the BTS stops sending VSWR
faults to the network and any recovery actions related to VSWR are discarded. Different threshold values for each antenna line can
be specified. Operator should be able to test new threshold values before permanently storing the new configuration.

EEM:
To monitor voltage and power of system module(s) and radio module(s) from power meter entity.

SFP:
To monitor the actual condition of optical fiber connectivity between modules (master system module, radio modules and extension
system module) by reading link diagnostic information from SFP connectors. Each existing SFP <-> SFP link between SMOD<>RMOD,
BBMOD<>RMOD, RMOD<>RMOD should be monitored. All available static and dynamic parameters read from SFP connectors should
be displayed. Once SFP monitoring is enabled, SFP monitoring data should be provided periodically every 1 minute. Operator should
be able to stop SFP monitoring.

<concept> Ethernet Port Security

The security for the Ethernet port feature is enabled by default.

If the feature is enabled, the sensitive internal traffic is separated from external traffic.
The status can be changed by using the Disable button.

There is also an option to save the configuration in the network plan. To do so, mark this
option before changing the status.

Diagnostics - IP Traffic Capturing

• Capture the traffic to and from a local port into a file or stream towards another port.

<concept> IP Traffic Capturing

Access to IP Traffic Capturing view: Diagnostic ► IP Traffic Capturing

To capture traffic at transport network interface level:

1. select one of the capture point options.
Selection of a capturing point depends on the intended packets to be monitored.
When IPSec is configured, if we capture trace at point A, we are able to capture packets before
IPSec encryption. If we capture trace at point B, then we are able to capture the packets after
IPSec encryption.

2. The following options are also available:

• Include U-plane - includes user plane traffic
• Output - allows to define the data output: save the data to a file (and optionally protect it with
a password) or stream the data to another port.

3. Clicking on Start initiates the capture. The status and duration are displayed.
4. The Stop button stops the process. The BTS automatically stops the traffic capturing after 24
hours if the user does not stop it. The captured data is saved on the BTS, and is generated as a
file only if the user clicks the Generate and Download File button.
