A) Read the story: “Princess Rose”.

This is the story of a princess. She lives in a beautiful castle with a pretty garden. In that garden
there are a hundred roses. She loves roses so much that the people call her Princess Rose.
Every evening Princess Rose goes out onto her balcony and claps her hands. A golden bird
always comes, sits on her shoulder and then the princess sings. When she sings her hair turns
red and the people of the village fall asleep and have beautiful dreams. A witch hears about the
princess and decides to put a spell on her.
Now, Princess Rose has black hair. When she sings, her hair is not red anymore and the people
have nightmares. The princess asks the bird what to do. The bird tells her, “Black hair in rose
water.” The princess puts her hair in rose water and now it is red again. So when she sings to the
people they have good dreams.
But the witch is very angry so she takes away all the roses and turns her hair black again. The
Princess is very sad and cries. A Prince hears her crying and helps her. He touches the Princess’
hair with her tears and her hair is red again. They get married that day. The witch is so angry and
upset that she disappears and never comes back.

A) Read “The Princess who can´t dance”.

In a small country there is a King and a Queen and their beautiful daughter, Princess Leonora. The Princess
is beautiful and has lots of friends. On her sixteenth birthday the King and Queen prepare a big party to
celebrate Leonora’s birthday.

The King invites his friends and family and the Queen makes the most beautiful dress and
the most beautiful shoes for Leonora. But Leonora is not happy.
‘Why are you sad, Leonora?’ asks the Queen.
Leonora has a secret. She can’t dance.
‘What will people say when they see I can’t dance?’ she thinks.
One day she sees a girl in the forest. She is singing and dancing.
“What is your name?” asks Leonora. “Gisella,” says the girl.
“I am Princess Leonora and I live in the castle. Can you teach me how to dance?”
Gisella gives Leonora a pair of red shoes and tells her they are magic. “With these shoes
you will dance, Leonora” says the girl.

The day of her birthday, Leonora puts her new red shoes on and starts dancing. The King
and the Queen look at her. They are very happy. All her friends dance with her. “I can dance!!”, she shouts.
Leonora is so excited that she invites Gisella to live in the castle with her. Gisella has a secret. The shoes
are not magic shoes but now, Leonora is the best dancer in the country!

Rango is a chameleon. He lives in a glass box and is the pet of the

Smith family. He isn’t very happy because his life is boring. He can’t
go out of the box.
One day, the family takes him on holiday with them. They put the
glass box in the back of the car. When they are crossing the desert,
the box accidentally falls from the car. Poor Rango! He’s in the
desert and he’s very thirsty. He walks and walks and he finds an
armadillo.
“Hi, Sir! Can I ask you a question? Where can I get some water?”
asks Rango.
“Water? This is the desert! Go to Dirt.”
“Dirt?”
“Yes, Dirt is a town in the North”.
“Oh!, thanks” So Rango goes to Dirt.
Dirt is a strange town. There are no people there; only animals.
They are scared because a very dangerous, and intelligent hawk
often comes to the town and eats the animals.
“Can’t you ask for help?”, says Rango.
“Who can help us? We are in the desert!”
One day, the hawk attacks Rango. Rango is scared and he gets into a house. The house is old and
the roof falls and hurts the hawk. All the animals are happy because the bird flies away and they are
safe now.
Rango is a hero now and he becomes the new Sheriff. He is happy because he isn’t bored any more.

Mother goat has seven baby goats and they live near a forest. One day, mother goat

After that, she goes out to get food.
The wolf is outside the house, "Hello children! Here is your mother. Open the door. I have
good food for you."
The baby goats are intelligent, they recognize the voice of the wolf and say, "Oh bad wolf!
Go away!"
Then the wolf comes again. This time, he speaks in a loud voice, "Hello children! Open
the door. It is your mother here."
The children are intelligent. They look down and see the feet of the wolf. "No! We will not
open the door. Your feet are different from our mother’s. The color of her feet is white."
So the wolf covers his feet with white paint. He comes back to the house and knocks at
the door again, "Hello! Dear children, I have come, open the door quickly."
The kids see the white feet. But when they open the door they see the wolf.
They all run away; but one baby goat goes under a table. After an hour, the mother
returns and sees the door open. Her kids are not in the house.
At this moment, the baby goat under the table speaks and tells her about the wolf. They
go outside and find the rest of the goats behind a big tree.
Since that day, they never open the door when the mother is not with them.

A) Read the story.

Count Dracula and his daughter Mavis live in a big hotel in Transylvania.
Frankenstein and his wife Eunice usually spend their holidays at the hotel. Wayne
and Wanda Werewolf, Griffin the Invisible Man and Murray the Mummy often go
there too. This is a special hotel only for monsters. Humans don’t go to this hotel
and they are safe. Monsters don’t like humans. They are afraid of them!
Mavis is 118 years old. It’s her birthday today and Dracula is having a great party
to celebrate. All the Monsters arrive and give her presents but Mavis isn’t very
happy. She hasn’t got any special friends, only her dad’s friends.
Johnny is 19 and he’s on holidays. He is tired and he wants a hotel for the night.
He doesn’t know about Dracula or Monsters so, when he goes into Transylvania
Hotel, he thinks they are having a fancy dress party. The monsters think he’s
Dracula’s friend and they don’t ask questions. Dracula doesn’t say anything
because he doesn’t want the monsters to go away! Mavis is really happy with
Johnny but Dracula is worried. He’s human!
When the party finishes, all the monsters go to their rooms to sleep but Dracula
wants Johnny to go away. Mavis gets angry:
“But Dad, I like him! He can stay at the hotel!”
“No, he can’t! He’s human!
“What? Are you human Johnny?” Mavis asks.
“Of course! Aren’t we all human?” Johnny laughs.
“NO! We’re vampires and our friends are monsters!”
“Cool!! They are great! You are great too! Can I stay? This is fun!” Johnny says.
“Ok, OK, he can stay but this hotel is secret. You must keep the secret.”

My mom usually starts her day at eight o’clock. She has lots of things
to do every day! First she has a shower. Then, she has breakfast, normally

to work. She works in a music shop in the city centre. The shop opens at ten. She works all
morning and then she has lunch at half past one in a restaurant. The shop

When mom gets home she does the daily household tasks together
with dad. They make the beds, clean and cook. In the evening we have
dinner with my grandparents because they live near.
We go to bed at half past ten but mom goes to bed at midnight so
she has some free time to watch her favourite TV series or use the computer.
It’s different at the weekend! On Saturday afternoon she goes to the gym and visits her
friends. Sometimes we go with her, but most of the times we stay at home with dad. On Saturday
night she and dad often go out with friends. She loves dancing. They always have a good time!

One very hot day Tom finds a carpet in his uncle’s shop. He loves the
colours of the carpet. Suddenly, the carpet jumps! It moves and flies off into
the air! ‘Hey! What’s happening?’ Tom says. A loud voice comes from the
carpet… It can speak!!! ‘Welcome, Oh master. I am a magic carpet,’ it says.
Tom jumps onto the carpet and they fly high up in the sky. First, they land in a jungle. It is
hot and wet and it’s raining. They see a lot of animals there but quickly they get bored and
decide to fly to the desert. They see lizards, spiders and some strange insects but it is very, very
hot. After that they fly to the North Pole. There is lots of ice and snow. It’s freezing! They go past
the mountains but they can’t see anything because it’s very foggy. So they decide to go to a
forest. It’s very windy there. Then they fly to an island in the sea. There is thunder and lightning
and they don’t want to fly anymore.
Finally, they fly back home. The carpet lands in the shop and Tom gets off. ‘Wow! What
an adventure!!’

runs outside. There is a lot of snow on the street to play with. He is jumping and laughing when

Every month a group of fishermen go out to sea. Their leader is an old and intelligent
fisherman. He always guides them well.
One day the fishermen put their large net in the water. After some time, they take the net
but it is empty. This happens two or three times and the fishermen are very sad, but their leader
tells them not to stop.
The next morning the fishermen put the net into the water. This time there are some small
stones and small fish. Next, they put the net back into water, but the old fisherman says,
"Take out the net and put everything on the boat! Let’s see what you have”.
When the fishermen, pull the net they find a beautiful box. It had gold coins in it!
The leader divides it equally among all the fishermen and everyone goes home happily. The
fishermen learnt a lesson: never give up!
