PART 6 READING (5 questions)
Read the text and choose the best answer for each question. (5 questions)
Hi,
Welcome to my Green Blog again!
You know I love going to see waterfalls, rock formations, mountains, coral reefs and other natural wonders. Most of
these are thousands or even millions of years old. They are beautiful, because they are a long way from the nearest town
or even village. But it is easy for tourists to make problems for the local animals. If hotels and restaurants are built for
tourists, they might get scared and leave their natural areas. Tourists also damage things, sometimes without knowing
that they are doing it. And of course, just travelling to an area can damage the environment, for example, if you fly.
Guides tell people in Yellowstone National Park not to walk off the special paths. But many tourists go onto the areas
where hot water comes out of the ground. They break the thin earth and the unique ecosystem is damaged. At the Great
Barrier Reef in Australia, the cruise ships which bring people to the area are bad for the sea life. Tourists are told to stay
away from the reef itself. But some people who are scuba diving break off pieces of coral and take them home. Another
problem is the waste that tourists leave behind. In the Galápagos Islands, too much waste is damaging the environment
and even killing unique animals and plants.
Don't stop visiting natural wonders, but only go where you are told to go, when you are told to go there!
