2.2 Three resistors and two batteries are connected as shown in the circuit diagram below. (Hint:
RA = 0.01 Ω, RB = 0.950 Ω, RH = 0.05 Ω and VA=VB=12V). Calculate the:
(a) Currents IA, IB and IH. [6]
(b) Power delivered at the resistor RH. [2]

3.1 The RC circuit below consists of a resistor, battery and two capacitors, C 1 and C2, with
capacitances of 20 µF and 60 µF, respectively. Initially, the capacitors are uncharged and then
the switch is closed at t = 0 s. What is the total charge on C1 two time constants after the
switch is closed? [5]

3.2 The drawing shows two long thin wires that carry currents in the opposite y direction. The
two wires are parallel to the y-axis. The 50 A wire is on the –x-axis and is 5 m from the y-axis.
The 40 A wire is on the +x-axis and is 4 m from the y-axis. What is the magnitude of the
magnetic field at the origin (O)? [5]

3.3 Particle 1 and particle 2 have masses m = 2.3 × 10-8 kg and m1 = 3.9 × 10-8 kg with equal charge.
The two particles accelerate from rest through the same electric potential difference and
enter a uniform magnetic field as shown in the diagram. If the radius of the circular path of
particle 1 is r =15 cm, what is the radius of the circular path for particle 2? [5]

4.1 Define Lenz’s law (in words). [2]

4.2 The plot shows the emf of a generator output as a function of time t. The coil in the device
has a cross-sectional area per turn of 0.020 m2 and 150 turns. Calculate the magnitude of the
magnetic field. [6]

4.3 A transformer has 330 and 25 turns in the primary and secondary coils, respectively.
Determine the minimum current in the primary coil when a current of 11 A flows in the
secondary circuit. [3]

4.4 The impedance and the phase angle of the bioelectric experiment are Z  4.50  10 2  and
φ=– 9.80°, respectively. The experiment is set up in series with resistor R, capacitor C and an
inductor L with zero inductance. Calculate the
