CROCHETED NET SAC

Instructions
The entire bag is worked in single crochet (UK: double crochet) and chain stitches. Begin from the
base of the sac working a rectangle in single crochet: Make a chain of 15 sts. Start the first row with
1 chain st for turning and work single crochet along the 15 chain sts. Continue working single crochet
for 24 rows with always 1 chain st for turning; you now have a rectangle of about 8 × 12 cm.

Turn work, crochet 5 chain sts alternated with 1 single crochet in every other st of the previous row –
obtaining 7 chain spaces, or arches, along the top edge of the rectangle. Continue working these
arches also along the side edges of the rectangle, working the single crochet at the same distance as
in the top edge (i.e. 1 single crochet in every second row of the rectangle – about 13 arches. Around
both remaining side edges of the rectangle work chain arches as instructed above (about 40 arches
in all). Close the round with 1 chain st.

In the following round shift the arches, that is: Work 3 single crochet in the first 3 chain sts of the
previous round, then again alternatively work 5 chain sts and 1 single crochet in the centre of each arc
of the previous round.

This way work about 150 g of yarn (= about 35 cm in height). Now work 2 single crochet in every chain
sts arc (= about 80 sts) then over these sts work 3 rounds single crochet. From now on work in rows.
On each side of the sac, right in front of each other, work 20 single crochet. In the following row 19
single crochet, then 18 single crochet [...] until only 10 single crochet remain. To do so, let stand (= do
not work) 1 single crochet at end of each row. For the handle piece with the button work another 3
rows single crochet on one side. On the other side, over the 10 stitches, work about 60 cm single
crochet and make a few buttonholes, if desired, so to vary the length of the handle. Sew on button
and fasten yarns.
