WHAT IS E-SAFETY AND WHY IS IT SO IMPORTANT
ISSUE?
E-safety is simple it means being safe on the internet.
E-safety is often defined as the safe and responsible use of
technology.This includes the use of the internet and also
other means of communication using electronic
media/platform (video games, email, messages ect).
INFORMATION SECURITY
Sensitive information such as personal
information and identity, passwords are
often associated with with personal
property and privacy may present
security concerns if leaked.
Common causes of information
security breaches include:
PHISHING:
Phishing is a type of scam where
scammers disguise themselves as
trustworthy source in an attempt to
obtain private information such as
passwords, credit card numbers
ect…
DEFINITION:
The fraudulent practice of sending emails or other
messages purporting to be from reputable
companies in order to induce individuals to reveal
personal information, such as passwords and
credit card numbers.
MALWARE
Malware, particularly spyware, is
malicious software designed to collect
and transmit privet information. They
are often distributed through email,
software, and files from unofficial
locations.
DEFINITION:
software that is specifically designed to
disrupt, damage, or gain unauthorized access
to a computer system.
Cyberstalking is the use of internet or CYBERSTALKING
other electronic means to stalk or harass
an individual, group, or organization.
Cyberstalking is a crime in which
someone harasses or stalks a victim
using electronic or digital means such as
social media, email, IM, or messages
posted to a discussion group or forum.
DEFINITION:
the repeated use of electronic communications
to harass or frighten someone, for example by
sending threatening emails
CYBERBULLYING
Over the past decade, cyberbullying has
been identified as a significant problem
for youths. In a 2012 study of over 11,925
students in the United States, it was
indicated that 23% of adolescents
reported being a victim of cyberbullying,
30% of which reported suicidal behavior.
The use of electronic communication to bully a
person, typically by sending messages of an
intimidating or threatening nature.
CONCLUSION:
I would suggest you guys be
careful on the internet since you
will never know if someone can
randomly scam you or if you
suddenly have a virus in your
device.
