SCOPE AND DELIMITATION:
Academic performance is among various components of academic success. different elements
influence academic performance such as student temperament and motivation, social economic
status, peer, and parental support. Reference stated that academic success is one of the most
widely used constructs in educational research and assessment within higher education. Grades
GPA are most commonly used measures of academic success according to them. Reference
mentioned that academic performance has always been associated to the evaluation of tests
results, which are those corresponding to student’s IQ and leaving aside other personal
characteristics, the importance of emotional intelligence is worth highlighting. Dimensions
associated to personality traits are emotional impulsiveness, respect for others, sociability,
negotiating skills, self-confidence, and the meaning of life since the creation of meaning is related
to each person’s individual development together with other processes such as identity,
relationship, and life goal. Reference noted similar findings indicating the relationship between
students performance and study habits. Students with good study habits have excellent academic
performance, while those who have negative study habit performed poorly in academics.
Reference also mentioned that students with better study habits have high learning achievement.
Therefore, a correlation between study habits and academic performance is established. There is
also a significant relationship between writing notes, students use library, allocated time for
studying, and students academic performance in mathematics according reference though noted
similar finding between academic achievement and study habits, they recommended the need to
allocate significant attention to enrich academic performance because teachers and students
seem not to take effort in developing an promoting study habits. Despite true correlation between
study habits and academic performance, education instructors and administrators can improve
students study skills with the application of suitable and ethical educational content, especially
skills of writing and reading their notes. Accounts in literature also suggested good study habits
that correspond to the attainment of good grades. Conversely, according to Reference
underlining, outline, summary, note taking and reading methods used by students do not have
significant relationship with academic achievement of students and do not influence the students
grade level. Reference concluded that lack of resources, poor working conditions, use of he new
grading system, time, and lack of incentives had contributed to teachers low morale and therefore
exerted less effort in their daily duties. Lack of parental involvement also immensely contributes
to students low academic performance.

the paper survey to gather the data, A 4-Point Likert Scale on study habits was adapted and
