Constitution Article
Article I
Section 1: Name: DHAHABU ARTS PRODUCTION(FAMILY)
Section 2: Purpose: To provide mentorship and a safe space for
creative, artistic expression to the underrepresented students of the
Columbus area, through theatre education and performance arts
practice.
Section 3: Non-Discrimination Policy: Does not discriminate in its
programs or activities on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic
origin, ancestry, age, religion or religious creed, disability or handicap,
sex or gender (including pregnancy, sexual harassment and other sexual
misconduct including acts of sexual violence such as rape, sexual
assault, sexual exploitation and coercion), gender identity and/or
expression (including a transgender identity), sexual orientation,
genetic information, or any other characteristic protected under
applicable federal, state or local law.
Article II: Membership: (Qualifications and Categories of Membership)
Membership is extended to all who qualify through auditions and is
trained.
Article III: Organization Leadership: (Titles, terms of office, type of
selection, and duties of the leaders.)
Section 1:Producer
Overall head of Production.
Ensures smooth running of the production.
Responsible for hiring new cast members.
Responsible for firing new cast.
Section 2: Co- Ordinator
Coordinates all group activities.
He/She is responsible when the Producer is not available or when
directed by the producer
Section 3: The Director
Ensures the timely creation of set test adaptation and submission of
roles and lines to actors.
Ensures smooth running of the rehearsals.
Carries out auditions of new actors and gives recommendations to the
producer and Production manager on who should be hired.
Can dismiss who are not cooperating and report to the production
manager for replacement
Section 4: The production manager
Acts as a bridge between cast members and the producer.
To ensure the production activities are running
smoothly.
To ensure oversight of the general welfare of cast members.
Keeps an updated record of active cast members at any given time.
Oversees regular and timely disbursement of cast members' salaries
and allowances.
Has power to hire and dismiss a member due to irregulates.
Section 5: Stage manager
Oversees the smooth running of the show.
Responsible for keeping an updated record of roles assigned to each
actor at all times.
Must report to the production Manager after every show concerning
the general performance of each actor.
Responsible for keeping an updated sequence for each adaptation of
every set text.
Section 6: Props manager
Liaises with the production manager to ensure timely procurement of
enough props for usage during shows.
Ensures responsible use of production props.
Assigning who is responsible for carrying curtains.
Section 7: Cast
Responsible for best performance during the show. This includes
having lines, portraying the character the way it should be and most
importantly high level of discipline.
Always ready to learn and available for rehearsals.
Article IV: Meetings of the Organization (Required meetings and their
frequency) All members are required to attend general meetings when
directed by Production manager as directed by Producer.
Article V: Method of Amending Constitution (Proposals, notice, and
voting requirements)
Proposed Amendments shall be submitted by any member of the
organization in writing and be brought to the members. The
Amendment will then be voted on in a general body meeting, and may
be passed with a two-thirds majority vote. The dissolution proposal
may be brought forth by any member of the executive board.
BY-LAWS
Article I: During rehearsals.
Section 1: No phone usage during rehearsals. All phones should be in
flight mode and away from owners, thus all actors should have all their
lines written well in a notebook.
Section 2: Drug usage. No drug usage during rehearsals. Any kind of
drug is strictly prohibited in the rehearsal space.
Section 3: Respect. During rehearsals respect and obedience shall be
demanded and accorded by everyone to everybody, especially towards
the management. i.e. Producer, Co- Ordinator, Production manager,
Director and other managers.
Section 4: Time management: Strict time observance is a must, with
regard to the time set.
Section 5: Mastery of lines. Actors shall be required to have a
comprehensive understanding and mastery of lines with regard to the
roles assigned.
Section 6: In case of any problem, make sure you report to the
management and Director is aware. This can be done through any
management official.
Section 7: Rules in all sections of Article 2 shall be active in this Article
not leaving even one.
Article 2: During the show.
Section 1: Rules in all sections of Article 1 shall be active in this Article
not leaving even one.
Section 2: Costumes. Actors shall invest in their relevant costumes.
Section 3: Personal grooming. Actors shall observe the highest code of
personal grooming to make the working environment conducive for all
actors. Everyone should be groomed professionally.
Section 4: Backstage conduct: Every actor shall be expected to maintain
the highest level of concentration where they are in backstage. That
means minimum noise is expected. No Chatting or receiving of calls. All
phones should be either in Flight mode or away from people as stage
manager directs.
Section 5: Movements: Unnecessary movements in the venue are
prohibited. Actors should remain in the vehicle until they are directed
accordingly by the responsible person. From there, they should stay at
backstage unless guided otherwise, not unless for short calls or long
calls which should be with limit. During running of texts no one is
expected to be out of backstage at all. In case of any health issues,
ensure that the management is aware. This can be done through stage
manager, Production manager or even
coordinator.
Section 6: An actor's personal life shall not in any way interfere with the
running of the production or execution of the actor’s respective duties.
This does not mean one should not to share what is affecting them but
let it be done with decorum and what calls for the Dhahabu Arts family
to help it will be dealt with in a loving way.
Section 7: Always praying before and after everything.
NB Failure to abide by these rules shall be dealt with accordingly i.e.
payment of fines or termination of the employment.
