COURSE SYLLABUS

PROGRAM: BS TOURISM MANAGEMENT


COURSE TITLE: TOURISM AND HOSPITALITY
COURSE CODE: THC1
CREDIT: 3 UNITS (3 hours Lecture/Week)

I. VISION:

The Santa Cruz Mission School, Inc. is responsive to the educational needs of indigenous communities,
envisions a Catholic Education, contextualized in the life of the IP’s thereby uplifting and empowering them as
people towards self-reliance.

II. MISSION

The SCMSI commits itself to:

1. Adopt an indigenized curriculum that will cater to the needs of the IP’s.
2. Uplift their spiritual aspect through evangelization patterned to their cultural beliefs.
3. Preserve and enrich their identity as IPs through education that would enhance total human development.
4. Actively support the IP’s their continuing struggle for self-reliance and self-determination.

III. PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

1. Develop individuals who are ethically and spiritually sensitive, intellectually competent and honest, skillfully
equipped and productive, environmentally aware and responsive to their needs and aspirations.

2. Train professional who will provide leadership in education, highland agriculture, community development
and related disciplines needed to become self-reliant and self-sustaining communities in their various
service areas in Southern Mindanao.

V. COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course provides an in-depth understanding of the dynamic and multifaceted tourism and hospitality
industry. It equips students with rhe knowledge and skills necessary for success in various sectors, including
hotels, restaurants, travel agencies, and event management.

VI. STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES/GENERAL OBJECTIVES

At the end of the semester, the students can:


1. Define the meaning and Importance of Tourism;

3. Determine the role of tourism in economic development;
