1. Inlet Chamber

2. Fine Screen Channel

3. Oil & Grease Removal Tank

4. Equalization Tank

5. Anaerobic tank

6. Anoxic tank
7. IFAS Aeration tank

Inlet Chamber –
Sewage is pumped to Inlet Chamber of the Sewage Treatment Plant. The inlet chamber
helps to regulate the flow of sewage into the treatment process, ensuring a consistent
rate that the plant can handle efficiently. It shall be of adequate size to meet the
requirements of workability inside it.
Manual Fine Screen –
As the sewage flows through the fine screen, solid particles are captured by the mesh.
The captured solids are then removed, typically by scraping, washing, or conveying
them to a separate waste area. In some designs, the debris is washed to remove smaller
organic matter before being discarded. Rake screens of different dimensions should be
made of stainless-steel SS 304. Dimensions of the rake screens are selected depending
on required flow rate, wastewater composition and dimensions of channels.
Bar spacing between bars of filtering mash can vary in the range of 5 - 70 mm
rectangular frame consists of two longitudinal boards connected by cross beams.
Oil & Grease Removal Tank-
The wastewater enters the oil & grease removal tank, which is typically designed to
allow the water to flow slowly, facilitating the separation of lighter substances (oil and
grease) from the heavier ones (solids and water). Oils and grease float to the surface of
the tank due to their lower density compared to water. This is a simple process based
on gravity, where the denser particles (such as solids) settle to the bottom, while the
lighter oils and grease rise. As the oil and grease float to the surface, mechanical or
manual skimmers are used to remove the floating material. These skimmers are usually
rotating devices or fixed blades that scrape the oils and grease off the water surface.
Equalization Tank-
The equalization tank receives wastewater from upstream sources, such as sewage or
industrial effluent, before it enters other treatment stages. Wastewater is stored
temporarily in the tank. During periods of high inflow (such as after a rainstorm or
during peak industrial activity), the tank absorbs the excess flow. Conversely, during
low flow periods, the tank discharges stored water to maintain a continuous, steady
flow to downstream treatment units.
A2O Process (Anaerobic + Anoxic + Aerobic)
The three-stage A2O process consists of a Modified Ludzack-Ettinger (MLE) process for
nitrogen removal, with an anaerobic zone in front for phosphorus removal .The process
is called A2O since it consists of anaerobic/anoxic/oxic (aerobic) tanks in series. The
RAS is recycled to the anaerobic zone. The anaerobic zone is followed by an anoxic zone
for nitrogen removal through denitrification. IR is recycled from the aerobic zone to the
anoxic zone at a rate of 100 to 400 percent of influent. Nitrogen removal is limited by
the IR flow. This is a relatively simple process to operate. The process has a small
footprint.
Step-1
The large group of heterotrophs or heterotrophic organisms (HOs) are the primary
agent of carbon (as BOD or bCOD removal. Many ferment carbon compounds CHO in the
absence of O2 to volatile fatty acids VFA (or rbCOD as they do in digesters and sewer
pipes) such as acetate. In the presence of O2 they respire and break down carbon
compounds further, releasing CO2. Some of these bacteria produce enzymes which cut
(hydrolyze) large polymer molecules such as starch or protein into glucose and amino
acids, which are used as food source i.e. carbon and energy source, by most microbes
present. They are also major floc formers in activated sludge systems. The HO can be
used to produce VFA in anaerobic static fermenters to feed the rbCOD requiring
bacteria in BNR. It should be noted that all microbes in the BNR system (bacteria,
protozoa and fungi) that are removed via WAS or effluent will remove C, N and P.
Step-2
The ammonia (NH3 or depending on pH, NH4+) oxidizing* bacteria AOB oxidise
ammonia to nitrite (NO2) - slow, and then the nitrate oxidizing bacteria NOB oxidize
nitrite to nitrate (NO3) - fast. The overall process “Nitrification” is the rate limiting
process of BNR systems. Nitrifies grow slower (15-20 times) than the HO, use up
alkalinity 7.1 mg for every mg of NH4, and work faster as temperatures increases but
become inhibited after 30°C. They need a higher sludge age, prefer pH 7.2-8, a high DO
level and slow down if DO < 2mg/L.
Step-3
Denitrifies are HOs but can get their O from O2 or from NO3. They reduce* nitrite and
nitrate in an anoxic environment to nitrogen gas N2, which is released to the
atmosphere. They preferably grow on readily biodegradable COD (rbCOD) such as
acetate or methanol. They restore some of the alkalinity (but there is a net loss) and
release some oxygen (O) back into the culture medium.
Step-4
The phosphate accumulating organisms PAO can, if fed rbCOD such as acetate under
anaerobic conditions (no O available) create an energy store in the cell and in so doing
release P into the medium. In aerobic conditions they use the stored energy to divide
(reproduce) taking up more P then previously released. This P is kept in the cells and
stored as Polyp. The P goes out with the WAS fraction to remain in the dewatered

sludge.
Features:

• Total BNR Removal

• Simple, reliable, quiet operation
• Unlimited process control
• Environmentally Friendly
• Design Flexibility
• Significant construction savings
• Simple to operate & maintain
• Energy savings
• Small footprint
IFFAS media Installation
IFFAS media will be installed in Anoxic as well as in aeration tank for denitrification and
degradation of organics such as BOD and COD including nitrification.
Aeration tank - (IFFAS tank)
In this process Air blower/ aerators provide air for the biological tank and ensure
that sufficient oxygen is available to maintain the biological processes in the tank.
The aeration compartments will be fully aerated and mixed by a aerator and blower
with fine bubble aeration. Microbes present in the reactor use organics as their food and
degrades. Normally 2 to 3 mg/l dissolved oxygen is maintained for better removal of
organics and nitrification.
Our Euro-clean –bio-lace media installed acts as bio carrier with enough surface area to
grow microbes which eventually increases the degradability of organics thus increasing
treatment capacity without increasing the tank size or new construction.
Integrated fixed film activated sludge (bio-lace)
IFFAS is a treatment process, combining suspended and sessile biomass. BIOLACE
media is placed into the treatment tank in order to attach a part of the biomass (sessile
biomass). With the attached growth more biomass is available in the system. Media will
be either floating or fixed one according to type of project. This process is ideally
suitable for SBR applications and any other technologies / capacity enhancements.
Bio-lace is a rope form fiber combined with various high polymer material and specific
braid skill. The important application is it uses the microbes to adhere and degrade
organic Pollutant. Bio-Lace is installed in Anoxic tank and aeration tank.
Salient Features:
• Increased Aeration tank treatment capacity
• Settle down of Microbes in huge specific surface area.
• Higher removal rate of BOD & COD (Up to 80%)
• Acid base resistance, long service cycle
• Easy for upgrading an existing waste water treatment plant.
• Low sludge production.
• Energy foot print and cost saving, low maintenance.
Biological affinity
EuroClean is combined with diverse fiber material, which is made up of chenille to
attach a
larger quantity of microorganisms as efficiently as possible. And the cord biomass
carrier design eliminates the possibility of the cord clogging.

Microorganism membrane in aeration tank

The effective porosity is more than 99%, which allows many different kinds of
microorganisms to live and multiply, and high quality of treated water is gained. This
structure could also attach nitrobacteria which has a long grow cycle and is hard to
breed. Bio-lace could also makes the food chain longer and produces less excess sludge.
IFAS Media Installation
Technical details of Triton Aerator/mixer
Theory of operation – Aeration mode
• Air is pressurized using a high-efficiency
regenerative blower.
• Air is forced down the hollow shaft through Saturn
Ring Diffuser.
• The air is then sheered into fine bubbles, while the
large mixing propeller forces the air in a
downward direction.
• This action dramatically extends bubble hang time
and the pressure that the bubble is under, thus
increasing Oxygen Transfer.
• Allows for deeper tank configurations, thereby allowing a small footprint and less land
required for the system.

Theory of operation – Mixing mode

When the blower is turned off, the mixing

propeller maintains velocities in the channel
without the introduction of air.

• This allows for turndown capability when BOD &

Flows are at lower levels resulting in energy savings.
• Uniform solids suspension in the basin at all depths
is maintained for optimal de-nitrification.
Merits of Triton Process Aerator / Mixer
Oxygen Dispersion and Horizontal Mixing:
The Triton is unique in that it incorporates higher fine bubble oxygen dispersion with
superior mixing to maximize and control biological nutrient removal in wastewater
systems.
Fine Bubble Oxygen Dispersion:
A regenerative blower is used to force air through the hollow shaft, past the propeller,
and is dispersed in a high velocity stream of bubbles. The average bubble size is 2.2
mm and meets the optimum size established by the U.S. EPA for fine bubble diffused air
systems. Aeration Industries is one of the few firms that can provide test results to
support this claim. By injecting more air at a downward angle and breaking the
bubbles into fine bubbles, it increases the total bubble surface area and allows for more
hang time, increasing the oxygen transfer.
Horizontal Mixing
The Triton’s proprietary, oversized PowerMix™ propeller design was developed
utilizing Naval Engineering propeller design techniques and many years of research
and development. The design results in superior mixing to allow for maximum
treatment and suspension of solids in the system. By utilizing horizontal mixing, the
Triton can extend the reach of its mixing and circulation, allowing for greater
treatment of the wastewater in the system. Other types of aeration systems have very
limited mixing and allow for settling that results in poor basin utilization and limited
wastewater treatment.

Fine Bubble Dispersion and Horizontal Flow Linkage

The Triton is a sub-surface aerator/mixer which allows it to avoid the negatives of
surface aerators such as splashing, aerosols, releasing pathogens into the air, and
cooling of the wastewater. They do not throw wastewater into the air which can cause
operational problems such as icing, odors, as well as other environmental issues.
Tritons are also quiet running (< 80 dBA) and operator friendly; requiring no splash
walls, guards, or covers for protection of staff and equipment.
Flow Linkage:
By incorporating multiple Triton aerators into a system, flow linkage can be
established which maximizes oxygen transfer, improves oxygen dispersion, and
maximizes the total volume of the basin. The result is a highly oxygenated flow pattern
that provides complete mixing, keeps solids in suspension, and maintains optimal
temperature.

Dual Functionality and Process Control:

The Triton system optimizes the combination
of hydraulic and aeration efficiency necessary
to accomplish higher oxygen transfer, superior mixing, and to allow for unsurpassed
process control. The Triton has the ability to independently control mixing and
aeration. By simply turning on and off the on-board regenerative blower, the Triton
units can cycle between anoxic mixing only mode and fully denitrification mode (mix
only) and nitrification mode (aeration and mix). This provides unprecedented
operational control, allowing the aeration system to be tailored to the process
conditions with absolutely no negative impact to the mixing within the system.

Aeration and Mixing Mode:

Air is pressurized using a high efficiency regenerative blower. The air is forced down a
hollow shaft into the proprietary PowerMix™ propeller and Saturn Ring atomizer. The
atomizer sheers the air into fine bubbles and enhances the nitrification process while
the PowerMix™ propeller forces the air into a downward direction, dramatically
increasing bubble hang time and increasing oxygen transfer.
Mixing Only Mode:
When the blower is turned off, the PowerMix™ propeller maintains water velocities
without the introduction of air. Operating all or some of the units in the system in
mixing only mode during off peak loading allows for electrical power savings while
maintaining the dissolved oxygen concentration. This results in optimal process
conditions and ensures uniform distribution of suspended solids throughout the basin
and at all depths.

Process Control:
The Triton has superior process control due to its dual functionality. Coupled with DO
and/or ORP meters, the on-board blowers can be automatically controlled by a
programmed process set point while the mixer can remain in operation at full speed.
This can save on electricity costs without any negative impact on mixing. This type of
control cannot be accomplished with other technologies in the market today.
Ease of Operations and Maintenance:
The Triton is designed for minimal operator attention. The only wear point on the
Triton is the water-lubricated bearing and sleeve near the propeller at the discharge
end. The bearings have been known to last for 5 years or more in wastewater
applications before requiring the first change out. When a bearing change is required,
it can be done with standard tools by the operating personnel at the plant and typically
takes less than 1 hour per unit.
The Tritons are direct drive equipment using 750 RPM motors. They do not use gear
boxes or speed reducers like other aeration and mixing equipment in the industry.
This greatly reduces the potential for mechanical failure of the equipment and
significantly reduces operational and maintenance costs and issues. Moreover, the
units are designed for easy maintenance without removing them from the basin.
Redundancy and Power Dispersion:
By utilizing Triton aerators, aeration and mixing power is divided evenly amongst
multiple units placed around the treatment basin, thereby maximizing the facility’s
performance.
Floatation Mount Assembly:
Flotation mounting is the most common and versatile installation for AIRE-O2 Tritons
and can be used with fluctuating water levels. It is moored via cables to proper anchor
points or can be mounted on vertical poles with a roller system. Flotation assemblies
include closed cell foam filled pontoons molded of low-density polyethylene. The
number of pontoons depends on the size of the unit; larger horsepower units will
require more flotation and can be equipped with access walkways. Each float assembly
also includes a vortex shield that is cabled to the frame. Floatation assemblies require
field assembly.

Bridge Mount Assembly:

The bridge mount can be incorporated into almost any type of Access Bridge that is of
sound structure to support the weight of the AIRE-O2 Triton and its mount. It allows
for maintenance access from the bridge and can be adjusted to the proper water level,
but should not be used in applications with water level fluctuations. The mount is
designed to have the ability to tilt the unit up into a maintenance position for ease of
maintenance. The vortex shield is cabled to the support arms for proper positioning.
Maintenance platforms and removable portable davits cranes can be incorporated for
installation and maintenance at an additional cost.
Wall Mount Assembly:
The wall mount is used to mount to concrete wall structures and is designed to pivot
and lock into position to achieve the desired directional flow. It can be pivoted
towards the wall and has the ability to tilt the unit up into a maintenance position for
ease of maintenance. It can be adjusted to the proper water level, but should not be
used in applications with water level fluctuations. The vortex shield is cabled to the
support arms for proper positioning. Wall mounts are available only for units of 30HP
and smaller.

Vortex Shield:
The vortex shield is utilized to prevent the propeller action from forming a vortex from
the surface and drawing air to the impeller, resulting in cavitation and damage to the
impeller. It can be cabled to the different mounting options with mounting arms and is
manufactured from a durable fiber glass reinforced composite and protected with a UV
stabilizer to prevent deterioration.

ESMIL Tube Air Diffusers

Description:
ESMIL Tube Air Diffusers represent high efficiency without the need for maintenance. A
distinctive feature of the Tube Air Diffusers is their high reliability and low operating
costs over a wide range of supply air flows.

They are designed for continuous aeration when minimum maintenance and maximum
service life are required. The time-tested design of the air diffusers has established itself
as one of the most efficient and reliable technological solutions for biological
wastewater treatment.

Advantages of ESMIL High Efficient Tube type Air Diffusers:

• Robust Design and reliable operation with no need for cleaning and washing:

The external polyethylene layer with "fibro-porous" construction provides for tough,
reliable operation of the aeration system without the need for routine cleaning and washing.

• Resistant to supply air impurities.

• Effective mass transfer and sludge mixing:

The ESMIL Air Diffusers produce fine bubbles which is ideal for oxygen transfer and
mixing.

• Reduced operating costs due to low pressure loss.

• Due to the internal perforated pipe and "fibro-porous" design of the outer tube, the ESMIL
Air Diffusers provide uniform air distribution over the entire area of the aeration tank.
• Additional resistance to water hammers, pressure drops and other mechanical impacts
is provided dueto the special design of the ESMIL Air Diffusers.

• ESMIL aeration system is easy to assemble. Elements of the system are quickly
assembled by threaded joints. Diffusers are fastened to the bottom with the fastening
step of 2 m.

• The rate of air flow supplied to our ESMIL Tube Air Diffusers is 2-2.5 times higher than to
conventional membrane diffusers. This provides for lower investment and capital costs on
projects.

• Due to the use of the thermoplastic materials in their design, ESMIL Air Diffusers are
resistant to a wide range of challenging environmental and temperature conditions.

• ESMIL Air Diffusers provide consistent, reliable and stable performance during their long
service life.

Standard Oxygen Transfer Efficiency [SOTE]

• Pressure Loss
• Operating Principle of ESMIL Tube type Air Diffusers

• ESMIL Tube Air Diffuser consists of two pipes inserted into one another with an air
gap between them. The outer pipe is called a disperser and is produced from LDPE
by the pneumatic extrusion process. This results in a pipe material consisting of
numerous interconnected pores through which air flows. The inner pipe is made of
CPVC and is perforated. The gap between two pipes is divided with cross-ring
inserts providing uniform air supply throughout the diffuser.

2. Fibro-Porous Disperser, LDPE
3. Cross Ring Insertion, LDPE

The supply air enters the space between the inner and outer pipes through the openings
in the inner pipe. The air is then evenly dispersed into the aerated liquid through the
“fibro-porous” outer pipe forming numerous and consistent fine bubbles. This ensures
consistent and uniform air distribution in the aerated liquid and provides superior
aeration efficiency with minimal energy cost.

Threaded diffuser joints are fixed at both ends of the diffuser featuring simple
installation in branches.

Installation of ESMIL highly Efficient Tube Air Diffusers

Threaded diffuser joints feature simple installation in branches up to 20 m length and

result in fewer air manifolds.
Air manifolds are delivered with factory-welded diffuser adapters to facilitate installation.
No field welding required.
All metal parts, air manifolds and drop legs available in SS 304 and SS 316.

Dimensions:
Secondary Tube Settling Tank –

The wastewater from aerobic basin is taken to a secondary tube settler for solid-liquid
separation. The sludge collected in the hopper bottom of the settling tank is periodically
withdrawn to sludge holding tank. Overflow from the settling tank is subjected to tertiary
treatment.
PSF & ACF-
The Water from tube settler will be passed through the PSF and ACF for further treatment of
filtration. After filtration the water is flowed in to the next unit for disinfection.

UV System-
Water will be sent through UV system for disinfection purpose.
Treated Water Tank-
Water after disinfection will be collected in the treated water tank.
Sludge Holding Tank-

The Primary Sludge & Secondary Sludge will be collected into the Sludge holding tank.

The Sludge from Sludge holding tank will be transferred into the Screw press for Dewatering
Purpose.

Screw press –
Sludge Dewatering Screw Press is designed to apply three functions into one unit, in which
the three zones are conditioning zone, thickening zone and dewatering zone. It is able to run
continuously and automatically to 25% of Outlet Consistency. With this equipment, you can
remove Sludge Thickening Tank and Filter Press. Hence, reduce footprint and less manpower

needed for cleaning dewateringequipment and discharge of sludge.

Screw press is a new type of sludge extrusion dewatering equipment by using the principle
of screw extrusion, through the strong squeezing force generated by the change of screw
diameter and screw pitch, and the tiny gap between the floating ring and the fixed ring, to
realize solid-liquid separation.

Main components of screw press –

1. Flocculation tank - A Polymer is mixed with the sludge to form flocks suitable for the
Volute.
2. Thickening Zone in cylinder unit- The Sludge enters the thickening zone, and the
initial filtrate is discharged whilst the thickened sludge is pushed towards the
dewatering zone by the screw.
3. Dewatering zone - In this section, the gaps between the rings and the screw pitch
decrease gradually in the direction of the end plate, whilst the pressure of the filter
element increases due to the volume. Compression effect, which thickens and dewaters
the sludge.

Advantages –
• Extremely Low energy consumption
• No requirement of Thickener or drying
• Clog-Free & small foot print
• Fully automatic control
• High resistance to oily sludge
• Lesser manpower requirement.
