UPL RULES
MATCH-RELATED:
o All the matches will be conducted only on Saturday, 15th, and Sunday,
16th February 2025, at Blitz Cricket Ground.
o The tournament will be played in a league format. However, if any team
doesn’t turn up on that day, the opponent team will get a bye.
o Overs per Innings – all the matches of the tournament will have 7 overs
per innings. However, if there is any shortage of time and matches are
not covered as per the scheduled time, organizers hold the right to
decide the over reduction, and decisions will be taken on the spot.
o All the teams must assemble 30 minutes early before the start of their
match. Also, the toss will take place 30 minutes prior to the start of
each match.
o The playing teams assembling later than the communicated time will
play with whatever players are available, with a minimum of 8 available
players on the ground. Failing this, the same will give a walk-over to the
other team.
o The decisions of the umpires will be final and binding. No dispute will be
taken out of the ground to the organizing committee. Any concerns that
a team may have should be recorded with the officiating umpires, who
will in turn discuss the same with the Organizing Committee if needed.
The Organizing Committee reserves the right to a final decision.
o Any objection with respect to any suspicious player in the opponent
team (if any found outside the apartment) should be raised before the
start of any match.
2. BALL-RELATED:
o All the matches will be played with a Green Vicky Ball.
o In case a ball is lost at any stage of the game, a ball in similar condition
will be given to the playing teams. Here, the umpire holds the right to
decide the ball. In case of unavailability of old balls, a new ball will be
provided to continue the game.
3. POINT SYSTEM:
o A team gets to play a minimum of 2 matches and gets 2 points for a
win.
o Two teams from each group will qualify based on the points/run rate
position.
o If the match is tied (league stage), then both teams get 1 point each.
o One Substitute Allowed – Each team can replace one player from their
starting XI with a designated impact player.
o Impact player details have to be mentioned to the umpire and the
opposing team captain before the start of the match.
4.a When Can It Be Used:
o Before the start of an innings.
o Who Can Be Replaced? – Any player from the playing XI, but the
replaced player can no longer participate in the match.
o Batting and Bowling Role: – The impact player can bat and bowl as per
normal playing conditions.
5. BOWLING-RELATED:
o Bowling Restrictions - A maximum of 2 bowlers can bowl 2 overs in an
innings, and 1 over each for the rest of the bowlers. A total of 5 bowlers
should be used to complete the 7 overs by each team.
o Bowling action must be within the acceptable norm (ICC norms);
however, any issue arising out of a bowler throwing unacceptably
instead of bowling with a fair bowling action will be reviewed and
decided by the standing umpires.
o The umpire must ask the bowler for the guard, and if the bowler fails to
inform the guard at the start of the over, it cannot be called a No-Ball by
the umpire. But if the bowler changes the guard during the over, he
must inform his new guard to the umpire, failing which it will be called a
No-Ball followed by a free hit.
6. FIELDING-RELATED:
o At any time, only 11 players are allowed on the field.
7. EXTRAS-RELATED:
o Except for leg byes and LBW, the rest of all cricketing rules will be
applicable in the tournament.
o If the ball touches any part/outfit of the batsman without connection to
the bat, stumping/run out/scoring runs will not be applicable. However,
if the ball touches the bat first and then any part of the body, the ball
will be alive, thus, all scoring runs/stumping/run out will be applicable.
o Byes beyond the stumps by the keeper will be applicable for the
batsmen to get the runs.
o Wides and overthrows are applicable as per ICC rules.
Free hit for no balls (above waist beamer and over the line bowling) will
be called by the umpires.
o Bowling way above the head of a batsman will be called a wide. From
the 2nd time, it will be a No-Ball, resulting in a free hit.
o Bowling way above the shoulder will be allowed only once in an over,
after which it will be called a No-Ball, resulting in a free hit.
8. BATSMAN-RELATED:
o If a batsman switch hits while playing a shot, both sides will be
considered for declaring a wide.
o If a batsman moves around the crease while playing a shot, the wide
lines will also change. Accordingly, the wide will be declared by the
umpire(s).
o If a batsman moves down the pitch, the height bouncer dynamics
may/will change. The umpires will accordingly decide.
o A batsman handing the ball while playing to avoid the ball hitting the
wicket will be called out, and a batsman retiring voluntarily will be
considered out. An extra runner will not be allowed for any injured
batsman.
o Retired hurt - If a batsman gets injured or ill while batting, they may
retire and resume their batting at a later stage in the innings at the fall
of a wicket or when another batsman retires hurt. Umpires will take an
on-field call. If they take the umpire's permission to leave, they are
declared 'Retired - not out'.
9. TROPHIES:
o Trophies for each qualifying individual will be decided by
umpires/committee members based on the suggestion by the Cric
Heroes app/data available. However, the standing umpires can overrule
the suggestion of the app if they find it necessary in each match/award
for the tournament. However, the Player of the Series award rights are
completely reserved with the umpires and committee decisions over
and above the Cric Heroes app suggestion.
10.PLAYERS REGISTRATION:
o All the teams will be requested to register a maximum of 13 players'
squad names before participation in the tournament in print-out, and a
photo of each player to be uploaded on the app, on or before 7th Feb
Friday 2025. After this, the teams will not be allowed to make any
changes in the squad.
o Once a player joins a team, they cannot play for any other team later
