MAT1009
Version No. 3.2
Course Pre-requisites/ None
Co-requisites
Anti-requisites MAT2005, MAT2010, MAT1106
Objectives The objectives of this course are
1. To teach students how to use linear algebra as a powerful tool for
computation and to show how these computations can be conceptualized
in a geometric framework.
2. To give a gentle introduction to the theory of abstract vector spaces.
3. To familiarize the student with all the notions of linear algebra that are
essential for areas such as machine learning, deep learning, data mining,
pattern recognition and image processing.
4. To demonstrate how to apply linear algebra concepts to model, solve,
and analyze real-world situations.
