Aim of the Document
This document provides an overview of the accreditation process, the criteria for accreditation
and guidance on making an application; including the details on information and evidence
required by CILT(UK) in order to process applications for non-regulated qualifications.
Such accredited qualifications may meet academic requirements for Member of CILT (MILT)
or Chartered Member of CILT (CMILT) along with demonstrable professional experience
which is also a requirement; this will be expressed once scrutiny of the application has been
performed. They will also contribute to CILT(UK) Certified Membership requirements as proof
of professional competency and an ongoing commitment to professional development
aligned to professional standards.
The Institute encourages the development of courses which focus on the latest concepts in
logistics, supply chain management and transportation in order to interest, encourage and
engage people entering the profession as well as preparing the next generation of
professionals.

Accreditation Criteria
Scope of content
It is normally expected that a course gaining accreditation maps to the competency framework
at the relevant level. A minimum of 60% of the course content will be required to map into the
Technical Competencies and a minimum of 30% of the course content will be required to map
into the Core Workplace Competencies.
There is also an option to accredit a module of a course. This is particularly important where
the course is not logistics, transport or supply chain specific, but is a pathway on a more
general programme.
Where the course is to be delivered by a partner organisation, for instance a course delivered
in a different geographical location, we would encourage students to engage with their local
branch of CILT, if available, to access the professional benefits, guidance and support they
can provide.
Information Required for Accreditation
As a guide, the following is a list of specific items of information that will be required by
CILT(UK) when reviewing an application:
Links or documents describing the course structure, including number of units to be taken,
core and option units, recommended reading lists for each module/unit.
A schedule / timetable of delivery expressing how the learning will be delivered, and
timings or expected seat times.
Methods of assessment for each unit and the course overall, including pass standards and
grading if applicable.
CILT(UK) AO requires the Learning Provider to have at least one tutor who would meet
the requirement to become a full Member of CILT (MILT) among the programme delivery
team. Ideally we would recommend some members of the delivery team have an active
membership with CILT or an equivalent relevant professional membership body.
Links to entry requirements for the programme, detailing any prerequisites stated including
any experience requirements.
Brief resume of key teaching staff for the course, including academic and teaching
qualifications.
Details on the delivery team structure and delivery methodology, inclusive of supporting
infrastructure (ie. venues, virtual environments, Learner journey processes)
It may also be necessary for CILT(UK) to visit the Learning Provider prior to accreditation
being granted. This will be discussed with the applicant Learning Provider and may result
in additional visit fees.

Non-Regulated Qualification Mapping Requirements
The mapping requirement of the course content focuses on the importance of balance
between transferable workplace skills across the profession, coupled with knowledge of
specific technical areas at the appropriate level, in the field of supply chain, logistics and
transport.
Mapping must achieve the following:
A minimum of 30% of the qualification Learning Outcomes must map to the Core
Workplace Competency Knowledge Areas.
PLUS
A minimum of 60% of the qualification Learning Outcomes must map to the Technical
Competency sets Knowledge Areas.
Courses not specific to the technical areas represented by CILT(UK) in their content, however
consist of a module that does cover the technical areas can choose to have this module or
modules accredited, see Modular Accreditation.
The mapping is carried out by the Learning Provider supported with CILT(UK) guidance. The
information regarding this will be sent when interest is expressed.

Modular Accreditation Mapping Requirements
Courses not specific to the technical areas represented by CILT(UK) in their content,
however consist of a module that does cover the technical areas can choose to have this
module or modules accredited.
A total of 60% of each accredited module’s indicative content should map into the Technical
Competency knowledge areas of the CILT Competency Framework.
Bundling of modules within one course is possible to increase the value of the accreditation
to learners within the provision of a route for individual professional recognition. This is
dependent on credit or guided learning hour equivalencies and will be expressed when
accreditation is approved.
Conditions for Accreditation
In applying for and gaining non-regulated qualification accreditation, modular accreditation or
reaccreditation, Learning Providers are entering into a contract with The Chartered Institute of
Logistics and Transport (UK) for the agreed period of the accreditation.
The process of accreditation will be started upon receipt of the accreditation application form,
however, this process will not be completed until fees have been received in full.
CILT(UK) requires the Learning Provider to supply the correct billing address, organisational
details, contact email address and phone number on the Application form. Learning Providers
operating a purchase order system will need to raise a PO number and this should be provided
in a timely manner to avoid delays in accreditation approval.
Invoices without a purchase order will have to be paid in full before the accreditation
commences.

As an alternative to CILT(UK) delivering an online assessment, there is the possibility that
CILT(UK) will deliver a moderation service instead – operational and fee considerations will be
discussed on a case by case basis and is not a guaranteed option.
Accreditation Review
Accreditation Review of a previously approved programme or module(s) will be required at the
end of the accreditation period. Learning Providers will receive a notification about their
programme due for renewal and will inform Learning Partners of details and evidence required
at that time.
Should a programme significantly change during the Accreditation Period, an Accreditation
Review will need to be organised to ensure the accreditation is still applicable. Requirements
will be discussed at the time with Learning Providers should this occur.
