It is quite astounding how emotions can stir different reactions to the same experiences as if they

move like a stream of water from a high point to a low. In winter, sitting by the fireplace, feeling
its warmth for comfort, and hearing the wood crackling voice have always been a lullaby to my
ears during my adolescence. However, the sound of a nightmare for others is the same crackling
voice of the fire burning through the entire building floor, setting ablaze to everything that comes
its way with destructive intention. That night is relived by my father over and over again
whenever he sees or hears fire because, in 2007, his office was unintentionally set on fire,
burning all of the files of his clients and business ownership details that he worked so hard for to
build his prior ten years.

My father always believed in old-school ways of doing things, which included storing all of the
critical business content in analog diaries, but the abysmal fire burned it all to the ground,
leaving behind the ashes of his hard work. After this incident, he was forced to adapt to modern
technology, which included digitalizing his clients' databases. This was the pivotal point in my
life where fire brought calamity to my father’s business, but at the same time, it brought light in
my life that exposed me to the concept of computer science.

During my father's company’s digitalization, one of the computers was brought home for my
exploration during fun time. The initial encounter with a big monitor with a square piece of
metal box was something I couldn’t resonate with, so my father asked me to study the parts of
the computer, how it works, and why it works.

My curious mind to explore the computer structure led to his discovery of its mind, also known
as the CPU, and its ability to store memory. The concept of computers having memory just like
us was so uniquely fantasizing that I instantly fell in love with it. After a month, an opportunity
represented itself to be a part of my school's summer school boot camp, which would teach us
the fundamentals of programming and how it works.

Although I was never fond of joining summer camps, primarily held at school, I believe it was
my life's best decision. During the summer boot camp, I was taught the basics and intermediate
levels of Python, and using it, I made a 2D car stimulator. The thought of creating something
functional, real, and had a direction to a purpose to reach its destination. The emergence of what
CS can achieve through its functionality blew me away and gave me an utter desire to pursue its
path.

Among the joy I was experiencing in my profound love for CS, the earth was slipping away
under my feet with each breath she took toward her decay. I wondered to myself, on her last day,
if machines can have memory, can they have emotions? Would computers cry if someone dear to
them is taken away? Simultaneously, my mind plotted the most imaginative ways to save my
elder sister, who was battling death due to an abnormality in her heart. I thought and thought of
ways if computers could somehow code or make my sister functional like it made a lifeless card
move forward to get to its destination. While I thought of ways to save her, she left us behind and
now remains is her existence in our memory.

Over the coming years, I researched tremendously on ways in which computers can have
capabilities to preserve life through computation by the process of Artificial General
Intelligence. My research further escalated to the functionality of Artificial Intelligence to
implement, particularly in healthcare, to detect diseases and abnormalities hidden from
conventional medical treatment and cures through deep learning insights. Although I can never
bring my sister back, I can undoubtedly prevent more suffering and unwanted losses of people by
implementing the power of computer science into the medical field for better disease detection
mechanisms through advanced machine learning algorithms because that is a life worth living for
than any interest or pursuit imaginable.
