Adobe Photoshop is a most powerful software for editing images, it has

a released by adobe company, by this software we can design black &
white to color conversions, create multi-color visiting cards, wedding
cards, banners, web templates and backgrounds etc…

Start-all programs- Adobe Photoshop CS6 (Creative Suite)

How to select image?

Open any image
Duplicate it
Press (F) full screen with menu bar
Zoom in(ctrl+)
Take polygonal lasso tool
Select photo or background with edge
Fiton screen Ctrl+0 or Zoom out(ctrl-)
Select Menu-Feather-Alt+Ctrl+D-0.5to 1.5 pixels
Take move tool
Move the selected area in to the new document
If we want to transform –ctrl+T
Open another image for background
Arrange layer to down

Crop Tool: (C) Remove the Unwanted Area

Note: Take crop tool then select particular area and

If we want convert from one size to

Front image:-display front image size (width &
height of the image)

Select photo with rectangular Marquee tool

 • Then go to File-Automate-Crop & Straighten
Photos
• And Go to image -crop
Slice Tool: (K) select photo with slice tool various
parts then go to File-Save for Web-Save-On
Desktop- create new folder-save
Slice Select Tool :( C) This tool is used to move and
scale the selected slice
View menu-Clear slices
Open three images-create button-drag slice on
button-right click on slice-edit slice option -1.html-
file save for web -2.html
2.html-save for web 3.html
3.html-save for web 1.html

Spot Healing Brush Tool: (J) click to remove spot of

the image
Healing Brush Tool: (J) Press alt button select source
area then place into the target area
Patch tool: (J) select the patch area then move to
another source area
Red eye tool: (J) click to create black & white eyes
Clone Stamp tool: (S) Press alt button select target
area then place into the source area
Pattern stamp tool :( S) To create backgrounds using
existing patterns and define patterns
Brush Tool :( B) This tool is used to create
backgrounds with various types of brushes
There are three types of brushes
1. Hard Brush
2. Soft Brush
3. Designing Type Brush

Pencil Tool: (B)
Color replacement tool :( B) Replace color from
existing to new with foreground color
Modes: normal, screen, multiply, etc…
Opacity-0to 100%,
Hair brush: brush color will be flow
If we can create new brush select particular area
then go to –Edit menu -define new brush-name-ok
Define brush will be stored in brush’s panel
History brush tool (Y): this tool is used to remove
the previous works in history pallet step by step or
entire work area
Art history brush tool:-this tools is used to create an
image artificially with using different styles in
options bar

Eraser Tool (E) this tool is used to erase the

particular selected area or entire area
Note: if erase the background with background
color when highlight Background option
If we convert from background to layer (double
click on Background) erase with transparent
Background Eraser (E): erase the background
directly with transparent
Magic Eraser (E): erase the similar color area with
transparent
Gradient Tool: (G) this tool is used to create more
than one color for using mixed color backgrounds
There are five types of gradient styles
• Linear
• Radial
• Angle
• Reflected
• Diamond
Gradient types
 • Solid
• Noise
TO create a new gradient
Go to gradient editor box
Click black white slot
Click the bottom of the gradient editor box change
color to individual color points
Then click on new Gradient
Paint bucket (G) fill foreground color and pattern

Blur Tool (R) create blur selected image or entire

image
Sharpen Tool (R) create sharpen selected image or
entire image
Smudge Tool (R) create smudge (stretch color with
blur) selected image or entire image
Dodge tool (O) this tool is used to highlights the
white color
Burn Tool (O) this tool is used to highlights the black
color
Sponge tool (O) this tool is used to create saturate
& de saturate
Path selection Tool (A) this tool is used to move
path from one place to another place
Direct selection Tool (A) this tool is used to modify
individual anchor points
Pen tool (P) this tool is used to select photo with
paths option and create shapes from shape layer
option
Free form pen tool (p) this tool is used to create a
path as pencil
Add anchor point tool (P) add a new anchor point
on path
Delete anchor point tool (P) remove anchor point
from path
Convert point tool: (P) this tool is used to convert
point from straight-line to curve
Custom shape tool (U) use various shapes from this
tool
Ex: Rectangular –rounded rectangular-ellipse-line-
polygon-custom shape tool (use different shapes
from palette)

Hint: Use three options to create a shape

Shape layer-automatic layer+colorfill+paths
Paths-Right click make selection-Ctrl+Enter-take
new layer-fill color (alt+back space)
Fill pixels-take new layer then create any shape.
Horizontal type tool:-type text in horizontal way
with solid foreground color
Vertical type tool:-type text in vertical way
There are two types of text
• 1)Point text, 2)Paragraph text
• Point text: - it will be type in single line (using
Enterbutton text will be taken next line
otherwise it will be cont……..)
2. Paragraph text: - it will be type in particular
paragraph area (draw the box with text tool)
Horizontal type Mask tool:-type text in horizontal
way with masking (background color)
Note: type text with Horizontal type Mask tool then
click on background or move tool that will be
convert to selection then press ctrl+J (layerviacopy)
Apply layer style to the existing layer Drop shadow,
bevel & emboss etc
Character pallet:-if we want to modify text like font,
font style, font family color etc that will be modify
by character pallet
Paragraph pallet:- by using paragraph we can
change alignment of the text ex: left, right, center,
justify ,force justify

Notes tool: (N) write note about existing documents

Audio annotation tool: (N) record the voice by
speaking in to the microphone
Eyedropper: (I) this tool is used to picking the color
by any particular image (display in foreground color)
Color sampler tool: (I) this tool is used to measure
RGB & CMYK color’s measuring values that will be
display in info palette (f8)
Measure tool: (I) this tool is used to measure the
document size and particular area size
Hand tool: (H) after zooming we can adjust image to
around and also we can adjust by pressing space
bar
Zoom tool: (Z) zoom in and zoom out of the image
(+ and -)

Quick mask tool :( Q) This tool is used to edit the
selection with adding & subtracting and also we can
select loose hair part
Note: press Q then take brush tool, foreground
color will be black for adding selection, if fore
ground color will be white subtract from selection
Fore ground color: - alt+Backspace/del
Background ground color: - ctrl+Backspace/del
Switch between foreground to background color:(X)
Default foreground and background color: (D)

There are three types of screen modes

1. Standard screen mode (F)
2. Full screen mode with menu bar (F)
3. Full screen mode (F)

Menu bar

File menu
New (Ctrl+N): create a new document
Open (ctrl+O): open an existing document and
images with all types of formats

Browse (alt+ctrl+O): open any image with file

information
Open as: (alt+ctrl+shift+O): open an existing
document and images with specific (PSD-JPG-GIF)
formats
Open recent: 10 recently opened files will be
displayed. if we want to modify recent values-Edit-
preferences-File Handling
Close: (Ctrl+W): close the current document
Close all: (alt+Ctrl+W): close all the documents in at
a time
Close & Go to bridge (shift+Ctrl+W): close the
current document then open any particular image
or document
Save: (ctrl+S) store the file in to the hard disk with
*.PSD format (in this format layers will be modify)
Save As: (shift+Ctrl+S) store the file in to the hard
disk with new name & format *.jpeg (joint picture
export group) for Lab printing purpose
Tiff:-tagged image file format for flex banner
printing

various data sets or via support
Export: - export (save) Photoshop (image base) path
in to the illustrator (vector based)

Automat
Batch: actions will be stored in batch and that will
be apply to source folder images
Pdf presentations: - create pdf presentations by
root folder as a multi page presentation with
transition effect
Create droplet: - create a action set as a (.exe file)
Conditional mode change:-change mode from one
to another Ex- RGB to CMYK
Contact sheet II:- create a sheet from various size of
document Ex:- take maxi size document that will be
set in A4 layout with 4 copy’s
Crop & straighten photos:- selected part will be
cropping with separate document
Fit image:- image pixel dimensions (size) will be
displayed and also we can edit
Picter package:- create a package from opened
images
With sizes 8*10, 10*16, 11*17 inches
Example:- Layout size 8*10, four images will be
displayed in 4*5sizes [8*10] [(4)4*5]
Web photo gallery:- create a web gallery with
different types of web template styles from source
folder images then we can save in destination folder
with new name (save a file with .html format)

Page set up: - shift +ctrl+p
Print with preview: - Alt+ctrl+p
Print: - ctrl+p
Print one copy:-Alt+shift+ctrl+p

Edit Menu
Undo :-( ctrl+z) one step back & forward
Step back ward: - (alt+ctrl+Z) step back up to 20
times
Step forward: - (shift+ctrl+Z) step forward up to 20
times
To increase the History states: - Edit-preferences-
General-History States –Type Number
Fade: - (shift+ctrl+F) opacity (color shading 0% to
100%) will be control solid color, gradient color,
brush and pattern
Cut :-( ctrl+x) selected area & layer will be cut
Note: after cut we can do paste
Copy :-( ctrl+C) selected area & layer will be copied
Note: after copy we can do paste
Copy merged :-( ctrl+shift+C) copied at a time all the
selected layers
Note: after copy merged we can do paste
Paste :-( ctrl+V) after copy, cut and copy merged we
can use paste command
Paste in to :-( ctrl+shiftV) it will be paste in
particular selection area. after copy, cut and copy-
merged we can use paste in to in to the particular
selection area)
Clear: selected area (layer content) will be deleting
Check spelling:-spell check
Find & replace text: - word or letter will be replacing
Fill :-( shift+f5) fill foreground, background, pattern
and gray or black color
Stroke: - apply stroke to the selected layer to inside,
center, outside of the selection
Free transform :-(ctrl+T) transform to the current
layer. Scale, rotate, skew, distort, perspective,
rotate 90cw etc……..
Transform again :-( shift+ctrl+T) last transform will
be repeated
Define Brush: create a new brush from selected
area in to the brushes palette
Define pattern: create a new pattern from selected
area in to the pattern palette
Define custom shape: create a new custom shape in
custom shape palette
Note: take pen tool create any shape with path
option then we can click define custom shape that
will be stored in custom shape palette

Image menu
Mode:-changing from one mode to another mode
Example: - RGB to CMYK, CMYK to grayscale etc….
Adjustments: - these adjustments will be apply on
images for control lighting & darkness and color
changing
Duplicate:-create a duplicate window
Image size:-alt+ctrl+I display current document size
and also we can edit of the image size & resolution
Canvas size: - alt+ctrl+c canvassing to four sides of
the image and individual sides also we can apply
Rotate canvas: - image will be rotate with rotate
90cw, ccw, flip horizontal and vertical
Crop:-remove unwanted area of the image
Note: select with rectangular marquee tool and
apply crop
Trim: after canvassing we can use trim to remove
the canvassing parts

Layer menu
New: layer:-shift+ctrl+N create a new layer
Layer from background:-convert a layer from
background
Background from layer:-convert from layer to
background
Group: - create a group from various layers
Group from layers: - selected layers will be create a
group
Layer via copy:-ctrl+J selected or entire area will be
copied in to the separate layer
Layer via cut:-shift+ctrl+J: - selected or entire area
will be cut in to the separate layer
Duplicate layer: - create a duplicate layer from
existing layer
Delete: layer: - delete current or selected layers
Hidden layers: - All the hide layers will be deleted in
at a time
Layer properties: - give a name (or) color for
identification layer
Layer style: blending option: - these styles will be
applied to the text filled box & outline objects
Ex: drop shadow, outer glow, bevel &emboss,
stroke …etc
New fill layer: - create a new adjustment layer to for
using solid color, gradient & pattern
Note: if Mask layer appeared, masking color will
be white, we can take fore ground color black &
vice-versa and take brush tool then brush on
image
New adjustment layer: - create a new adjustment
layer automatically to adjust brightness & contrast
of the image
Change layer content: changing from one
adjustment to another adjustment
Layer mask:-
Reveal all: - points to reveal all
• Open any image.
• Convert from background to layer
• Apply reveal all
• Take brush tool rough on image using hard,
smooth or designing brushes
• Take foreground black color
• Rough on image
 • Open another image
• Drag & drop to the image. Layer will be
arranged to the down.
• Click on unlink move the mask area.
Hide all: - points to hide all
1) Open any image.
2) Convert background to layer
3) Apply hide all
4) Take brush tool rough on image using hard,
smooth or designing brushes
5) Take foreground color white
6) Open another image
7) Insert the image. Layer will be arranged to the
down.
8) Click on unlink move the mask area.
Reveal selection: - reveal only selected area then
use reveal steps
Hide selection: -hide only selected area then use
hide steps

Delete: - mask will be deleted

Apply: - again mask will be applied
Disable: - mask will be hidden
Enable: - show the mask which is hidden
Vector mask: - current path: - image will be
inserting into the path.
Steps to vector mask:
• Open any image.
• Convert background to layer
• Take any shape with paths option
• Apply vector mask
Create clipping mask: Alt+Ctrl+G:-
It is also similarly as vector mask. But it will be work
in 2 layers
Steps to create clipping mask:
• Open any image.
• Convert background to layer
• Take a new layer
• Insert any shape with fill option
• Arrange the layer to down
• Apply clipping mask on image layer
Type: - Create work path:-
Steps to create work path
• Type something
• Apply Create work path
• Take move tool then move the text
• Take direct selection tool modify the path
• Make selection then take new layer fill

Type:-Convert to Shape:
In this option shape layer will be created
Take direct selection tool then modify the shape
&choose color as we wish

Horizontal:-convert from vertical to horizontal
Vertical: - convert from horizontal to vertical
Convert to paragraph text:-text will be

Note: it will be type matter in to the particular
paragraph box
Convert to point text:-convert from paragraph
to point text
Note:-in this option text will be flowing

Rasterize: - before applying any filter you must
rasterize the text, shape layer, fill content layer.
After Rasterizing we can’t modify anything.
New layer based slice: - create a new slice to
existing or current layer
Group layers (ctrl+g):-
Selected layers will be create a group
Ungroup layers (shift+ctrl+g):- separate from group
Hide layers: - Selected layers will be hidden
Arrange: bring to front: shift+ctrl+]
Bring forward: ctrl+]
Send backward: ctrl+ [
Send to back: shift+ctrl+[
Reverse: last layer will be reversed
Align: left, right, center
Distribute: gap between objects
Lock layers: selected layers will be locked.
Link layers: selected layers will be linked
Unlink layers: link will be removed
Select Linked layers: only linked layers will be
selected
Merge layers (ctrl +e): selected layers will be
merged as one layer
Merge visible (shift+ ctrl +e): all the layers will be
merged as a single layer (or) background
Flatten image: all the layers will mix as a
background

Select menu:
All (ctrl+A):-select entire document
Deselect (ctrl+D):- selection will be removed
Reselect (shift+ctrl+D):-reselecting the entire
document
Inverse (shift+ctrl+i):- reverse selection
All layers (alt+ctrl+A):- select all layers
Deselect layers: - layers will be deselect
Similar layers: - select similar text, shape, and new
adjustment layer.
Color range: - select the similar color area
Modify: - give selected border i.e, border, expand,
smooth, contract.
Grow: - increase the selection area
Similar:-select the similar color area
Transform selection:-Modify to the selection as a
scale , rotate, skew , distort, perspective, 90 cw, ccw
, flip horizontal and flip vertical.
Note:-this will be applied only for the selection not
fill area.
Save selection: - selection will be saved with a new
name
Load selection: - saved selection will be reloaded

Filter menu:
Last filter (ctrl+f):- last filter will be displayed
Extract (alt+ctrl+x):-
1) Take edge highlighter to select the photo edge
2) Take fill tool. Fill in to the edge area
3) Then press preview
Filter gallery: - pre defined effects will be applied to
the image any color (or) patterns back grounds
Ex:-artistic, brush tool, distort, sketch, stylize,
texture.
Liquefy (shift+ctrl+x):- it will be apply on image for
few adjustments of the face (or) body angles..Etc

View menu:
Zoom in: - Ctrl+
Zoom out:-Ctrl-
Fit on screen:-Ctrl+0(Zero)
Actual pixels:-display printing quality & size of the
image
Print size: - display print size zoom
Screen mode will be divided three type
• Standard screen mode
• Full screen mode with menu bar
• Full screen

Extras (ctrl+h):-hide selection, path and slice & grid

& guides
Show:-show & hide the individual options ex:-slice,
path, selection
Ruler (ctrl+R):-to the measuring guides and to
adjust objects correctly

Snap (shift+ctrl+ ;):-to snap the object or selection

to the guides or grids
Snap to: snap to all optioned:-guides, selections,
grid
Lock guides (alt+ctrl+;):- guides will be locked &
unlocked
Clear guides:-guides will be removed
New guide: - create a guide in horizontal and
vertical way
Lock slices:- slices will be locked
Clear slices:-clear all the slices from window

Window menu:
