PHILIPS
Il est toujours préférable de prendre la
documentation technique originale de
l'autoradio comme le montre ce
document PHILIPS.

Il peut y avoir quelques petites

différences. Le connecteur
d'alimentation VW, par exemple,
inverse le + 12 V permanent et le 12 V
après contact
antiqueautoiradiomadness

extractible.

BLAUPUNKT a été un des premiers

constructeurs d'autoradios à exploiter cette
solution simple puisque l'élément femelle

ISO maintenance and repair

It is sometimes necessary to replace or move a wire in an ISO connector. DIY mounts,

twisted wires and chandelier fittings must be banned.

The job consists of properly removing the PIN (plug or plug) from its housing in the plastic
ISO socket. This operation will make it possible to restore the ISO connector to its original
state by still having to make the necessary modifications or repairs.

Other advantages:

On the vehicle, it will not be necessary to restart all the connections of the other wires of the
ISO connector if the option to replace the complete ISO connector had been chosen.

It will be possible to usefully increase the section of the power and ground cables. Indeed,
the original beam consists of wires with identical sections.

Objective, to remove the PIN (metal plug or stin) from its housing without damaging
anything.

The operation is possible with a simple flat but very thin screwdriver.
Antique car radio madness

The PIN (metal plug) is locked in its plastic box by a ergot.

This ergot is part of the metal plug itself.

The blocking ergot is raised to ensure its role. It must therefore be logically lowered in order
to extract it from its connector.

The access is very narrow, you have to use a very thin flat screwdriver.

These metal lugs are available in specialized shops but it is very easy to reuse a cleanly
extracted lug.
Antique car radio madness

To fold this locking notch, it is necessary to make lever movements with the very thin flat
screwdriver.

Delicately without deforming the metal til obviously! It will have to be recovered to move it
in the connector or modify the cable.

The maneuver will be simplified by pushing the wire from behind, i.e. towards yourself. The
locking ergot will thus no longer find support in the plastic connector.

The wire can then be removed, the ergot being properly folded down.

After raising the locking ergot in its initial position, reinserting the wire into the connector is
child's play. We hear the click and it's over.

ISO maintenance and repair - VW

Antique car radio madness

The original VW connectors are more difficult to disassemble at the metal lucks (see
previous page)

Indeed, there is no internal blockage but 3!

Instead of a single locking lug on top, there is one on each side plus a yellow plastic bar that
locks all the lugs by passing through the plastic connector.

Antique car radio madness

This yellow plastic bar prevents all metal lugs from receating.

First operation, remove this yellow plastic bar, which is quite simple.
Antique car radio madness

Antique car radio madness

Fold down the 2 locking lugs present on each side, you have to make lever movements with
the very thin flat screwdriver.

It is necessary to proceed carefully to recover the metal sheath to be extracted.

Do not distort it because it can serve.

As in the previous exercise, the maneuver will be simplified by pushing the thread from
behind, i.e. towards oneself. The locking lugs will thus no longer find support in the plastic
connector.

Antique car radio madness

The metal plug can recede and thus it is possible to remove the wire.

When the metal plug is rested in place, the yellow plastic locking bar is reintroduced to
finish.

Correct crimping of the stibs

We have seen in the previous pages many professionally set lugs.

On the other hand, the amateur often uses insulated logs that are crimped on the power cable
by simple crushing. This different technique is not always satisfactory.

Indeed, since the insulation of the power cable is not of the same section as the copper
conductor that it protects by definition, the lug allows the walls to escape the "badly
crimping" wire with more or less serious consequences. As in the photo, the thread is laid
bare!
Antique car radio
Madness

It is necessary to ban risky connections, "gloss" fittings and the insulating canvas that under
the action of summer heat unfolds and no longer protects anything!

Working with these stucks is therefore very laudable.

The choice of these different stucks remains extensive but the amateur can easily opt for the
professional category for a perfect job.

Clamping clamps and pliers are not more expensive for the cause.

The big difference is in 2 crimpings, one on the common thread and the other on the
insulation.

This professional method makes the thread impossible to tear from its stice.

The adapted insulation then slides on the set still.

Antique car radio
Madness

The crimping pliers look very much like the other version. On the other hand, his profile is
quite different.
Antique car radio
Madness

The purpose of the clamp is to bend the spin on the cable to be trapped on 2 levels.
Bone

The professional clamp is not at all essential for the amateur.

Its only advantage is to carry out in a single operation the 2 crimpings on the 2 levels, one
for the copper conductor and the other for his insulation.
