VII. Learning and Insight

We learned to use microskills during counseling sessions, which are very effective for
families, and we also used S.O.L.E.R. techniques, which guide us on how to deal with
families and groups. We have a smooth flow of conversation during and after
counseling sessions because we are guided by theories and techniques, which are very
important because the theories we have today are very effective in helping the client
and giving us confidence in communicating with the clients.
Family systems theory is a technique of understanding human behavior that focuses on
interactions between family members and the context(s) in which they live.
Psychotherapy in general and family therapy in particular (working with emotional,
behavioral, or relational symptoms in individuals, couples, and families from a systems
perspective); school systems; community problems (e.g., polarized disputes and
facilitating "difficult conversations" as in the Public Conversations Project, peace
studies, and nonviolence training); and organizations (consulting).

As a student, we recommend that Desyree and her family be qualified to receive

financial assistance from various agencies, particularly the National Government. We
also recommend that this family receive psychosocial support for their mental health
problems as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, and that the family have a stable source
of income. They are eligible to participate in government-sponsored livelihood initiatives.
