07th AGRICULTURE CENSUS OF PAKISTAN:

 Pakistan is planning to integrate the Agriculture, Livestock & Machinery Survey into one by
conducting the 07th Agriculture Census from 1st June, 2024.
 Provincial Administration will be engaged in Field operations, monitoring & supervision of
survey.
 The model and resources of last Population Census will be utilized to minimize the cost/
expenditure.
 Two-tier training model has been devised for field staff.
 Mouza/ Blocks for the census has been identified with the cooperation of Provincial
administration.

After the successful completion of 7th Population & Housing Census (1st Ever Digital Census), Pakistan
Bureau of Statistics is in the process to conduct the 7th Agriculture Census throughout the country after
the thirteen years. Pakistan has decided to integrate Agriculture, Livestock & Machinery surveys into one
consolidated census survey. To initiate the process, PBS has started to hold meetings with Partner
Organizations & Provincial Stakeholders. The participation of stakeholders helped in gathering diverse
perspectives, identifying needs, and addressing any issues that may occur during the field operation. In
this regard a meeting has been held at Provincial Census Coordination Center (P3C), Sindh, PBS, Karachi
under the chair of worthy Dr.Naeem-uz-Zafar, Chief Census Commissioner, Pakistan, Muhammad
Sarwar Gondal, Member SS/RM, Dr. Naveed Iqbal, JACC, PBS, Dr. Hizbullah Bhutto, Director, Live
Stock department, Government of Sindh, Dr. Ali Nawaz Channar, Director, Agriculture Extension, Izat
Ali Chachar, Sindh Bureau of Statistics, Mr. Munwar AliGhanghro, Director (Incahrge) PBS, Provincial
office, Karachi, Mr. AzizullahBhatti, Director (DP), PBS, Karachi, & Mr. ShakeelQadeer Director
(CPMU), PBS, Karachi, have attended the meeting.Mr. Muhammad Sarwar Gondal delivered the
presentation to participants and shared the complete framework. It has been highlighted that the
Agriculture Sector contributes 23 % share in GDP and an updated Census survey is need of the nation to
plan and identify the resources that will further contribute to the maximization of the production.

PBS has planned to conduct the Agriculture census with close cooperation of Provincial & District
Administration by engaging the staff and using the resources of last Population Census. Two-tier training
has been scheduled for the supervisors and enumerators. The plan for training and resources allocation
has already been devised and shared with the group. By re-using the items of last Population Census and
by capitalizing the resources and expertise will help optimize the resources.

He said the digitalization of all the leading surveys will ensure the transparency, accountability and
efficiency in data collection and its further dissemination for end users. All the participants from partner
organizations have lauded the efforts of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics for such a great initiation of
conducting the agriculture survey after a lapse of thirteen years and have extended their full support to the
cause which will have far-reaching impacts on the national economy.
