Steering System

Step 1: We need to wear the hand glove, and safety boots our safety equipment. After
that, prepare a seat cover to protect the seat in the customer’s car from staining or
damaging the seat in the customer’s car. Then before starting the job, we need to
prepare a scissor hoist, four rubber hoists, an alignment machine, a wrench, a tie rod
opener, an impact wrench, and a socket set.

Step 2: First take the vehicle out for a test drive first to confirm and check for any issues
mentioned by the owner. Before getting in the vehicle, you must put the seat cover on
the seat of the owner’s vehicle to prevent the seat from being stained and damaged.
Before you use the seat cover, you must make sure that the seat cover is intact before
putting it on the seat.

Step 3: After the test drive, confirm the issues mentioned by the owner. Then prepare a
scissor hoist and check whether there are any problems with the scissor hoist,
everything is normal and can be used safely. After that, the vehicle is driven to the
scissor hoist. Before driving the vehicle, you must secure the scissor hoist. The hoist is
surrounded by no one people and is safe.

Step 4: After driving the vehicle to the scissor hoist, you can jack the vehicle up. First
place the four rubber hoists on the four jack points of the vehicle and then jack the
vehicle up. Before using the rubber hoist, you must make sure that the rubber hoist
itself is not damaged and can be used safely. After that, the vehicle can be jacked up.

Step 5: First turn on the power of the scissor hoist, and then press the rising button to let
the vehicle jack up. When the jack reaches a certain height, press the safety lock button
to lock the scissor hoist to prevent the scissor hoist jack from descending after rising.
After locking the safety lock, check whether the safety lock on the scissor hoist is
securely locked. After that, check whether there is any abnormality on the scissor hoist.

Step 6: After checking the scissor hoist and everything is normal, then can start. To
check for steering problems. Before starting the job, wear hand gloves and safety boots
to protect your hands and legs. After that, swing the wheel left and right to feel if there is
any loose feeling. If there is a loose feeling, it means that there is a problem with the tie
rod and the tie rod end is damaged, which will cause the vehicle to make an abnormal
sound while driving. The sound is loud or the alignment is out of tune.
Step 7: After checking the swing, I found that there was an obvious sense of looseness,
indicating that the tie rod and tie rod end may have been damaged. After that, check the
tie rod and tie rod end. Before checking the tie rod and tie rod end, remove the wheels
first. Use the impact wrench and socket 21mm to remove the wheel. Before using these
tools, make sure they are not damaged and are safe to use. Remove the wheel
afterward.

Step 8: After removing the wheel, you can check the tie rod and tie rod end. After that,
check to see if the cover on the ball joint of the tie rod end is damaged and affects the
rapid consumption of grease on the ball joint. Then check the conditions of the tie rod
ball joint. After inspection, it was found that both the tie rod and tie rod end were
damaged and had to be replaced.

Step 9: Before dismantling the tie rod and tie rod end, first check whether there is any
abnormality in the steering rack part. After that, first, check whether the steering rack
bush holding the steering rack is loose or damaged, and then check whether there is
any leakage in the steering rack. Then check whether there is oil leakage in the steering
rack and whether the steering rack boot on the steering rack is damaged.

Step 10: After inspection, it was found that there was no damage to the steering rack, no
oil leakage or looseness. Everything was normal and safe to use. Afterward, the tie rod
and tie rod end can be removed and replaced. First, use the wrench 19mm to remove
the nuts connected to the wheel spindle at the tie rod end. Before using the wrench
19mm, you must make sure that the wrench 19mm is not damaged and can be used
safely.

Step 11: After removing the nuts, you can slowly turn the tie rod end out in circles. After
it is turned out, remove the tie rod and replace it. First, remove the tie rod boot from the
tie rod, then use the tie rod opener, long extension bar, and ratchets to remove the tie
rod. Before using the above tools, you must make sure that all tools are not damaged
and can be used safely. After that, loosen the tie rod and slowly turn the tie rod out of
the steering rack by hand.
Step 12: After removing the tie rod and tie rod end, replace the new tie rod and tie rod
end. First, slowly nut the tie rod to the steering rack by hand. After nutting it, use the tie
rod opener, extension bar, and ratchets to screw the tie rod in the screw direction, then
tighten the tie rod. After that, put the tie rod boot back on the tie rod. If the tie rod boots
are damaged in any way, it is also recommended to replace them with a new one to
avoid the rapid consumption of tie rod grease due to damage to the tie rod boot and
affecting the tie rod.

Step 13: After installing the tie rod and tie rod boot back on, check to see if there are any
incorrect installations or any abnormalities. After checking that everything is normal,
you can then screw the new tie rod end back on the tie rod in the same way. First use
your hand to slowly turn the tie rod end round and round, and follow the number of turns
when removing the tie rod end.

Step 14: After tightening the tie rod end to the correct number of turns, then install the
tie rod end back on the wheel spindle and tighten the nuts before using a wrench 19mm
to tighten the nuts. After tightening the nuts, check to make sure there are no
abnormalities. Then can install the wheels back on.

Step 15: After that, repeat the same steps to remove the tie rod and tie rod end on the
other side and replace it with a new one. Also, remove the tie rod end first, then remove
the tie rod boot, and tie rod and replace it with a new one. After installing the tie rod
back on, put the tie rod boot back on and then install the tie rod end back on too.

Step 16: After installation, check to see if all the parts have been installed correctly.
After confirming that there are no abnormalities, then prepare an alignment machine to
adjust the alignment of the vehicle. After replacing the new tie rod and tie rod end, the
alignment of the vehicle will change or become out of tune. So we must use an
alignment machine to adjust the alignment of the vehicle.

Step 17: Before using the alignment machine, must ensure that there is no damage and
that adjustments can be made accurately. After checking and confirming that there are
no problems, the vehicle can be jacked down, and then the four jack-point rubber hoists
can be removed and returned to their original positions. After that, can drive the vehicle
going down the scissor hoist.
Step 18: After driving down the vehicle, drive it up to the alignment machine, park the
vehicle at the designated spot, and get out of the vehicle to start operating the
alignment machine. After that, jack up the vehicle and lock the safety lock when the
jack reaches a certain height. After that, fix the wheel aligned on the alignment machine
on the four wheels.

Step 19: After it is fixed, then can go back to the alignment machine to measure and
calculate the degree that needs to be adjusted. After measuring and calculating, then
use the division wrench 14mm to adjust both sides of the tie rod end according to the
degree displayed on the display. After the adjustment is completed and the data
displayed on the display is normal, the wheel aligners on the four wheels can be
removed.

Step 20: After that, remove the four-wheel aligners and put them back on the alignment
machine. After that, you can jack the vehicle going down and then drive the vehicle out
and take it out for a test drive to tease whether the abnormal noise from the owner's
mansion is still present in the vehicle and the alignment has been adjusted back to
correct. After returning from the test drive, I confirmed that the abnormal noise issues
and alignment issues had been resolved. After that, clear all the tools and take out the
seat cover.
