III. TEACHING AND LEARNING PROCEDURE STUDENTS’ ACTIVITY

A. Activating DAY 2
Prior Good morning, class!
Knowledge Good morning too,
ma’am!
Today is a great day to discuss a new lesson.
But before that, let us first have a short review
of the last topic that we have discussed. What
is our previous topic again, class?
Writing an expository
text, ma’am.
Very Good!

B. Establishing Last Wednesday, you have learned on

Lesson how to write one of the types of
Purpose newsletter writing which is an expository
text. So now, it is finally time to know
what is a journalistic text.
This type of writing will help you on how
to organize your newsletter after this
topic.

For example you will write a news report

about the whole event activities during
the CAVRAA meet through the use of
multimodal elements such as images,
that is an example of a journalistic text.
Actually class, the newsletter that we are
aiming to create at the end of this lesson
is an exact example of a journalistic text.
And in order for you to successfully create
one, we have a guide called inverted
pyramid.
(Presents the PowerPoint Presentation)

This inverted pyramid will be your guide

in writing your newsletter. We use
inverted pyramid because the most
important details must be at the first part
of your newsletter. The middle part also
contains the most important and more
detailed information and that is what we
call the ‘body’ and lastly, the end or
conclusion that summarizes the specific
details of the news. Let us now proceed
on the steps of writing:
The first step of writing is choosing the
newsworthy event. What events do you
think the audiences are dying to know in
your school?

It can be the research

study development that
Very good! What else? happened yesterday
here, ma’am.
Excellent! What else?

Sports event, ma’am.

Very good! So that means you are now
The victory of the
knowledgeable of the newsworthy events
athletes in LNHS,
that can be a possible subject of your
newsletter. ma’am.

The second essential step is, you have to

compile the details that actually
happened in the event. You can finally use
your pre-writing skills in jotting down the
date, location, and highlights of the
event.

After you compiled the facts, from what

you wrote beforehand you must start in
writing your lead. The lead must contain
the most important details of your news.
It answers the 4 W questions.
As you can see in this example. It
answers all the 4Ws, which make it on
point and informative at the same time.

And then finally, after the lead you can

now write the body. This is where you can
answer answer the 1H and 5Ws for a
more detailed news. This is also where
you finally write the details(conclusion)
where you can write the closure.

After you finish your news, it is now time

to revise it, and review if the mistakes.

And then for the last step after checking

the mistakes, you are now ready to write
it in a news letter and provide a related
image to your report.

C. Developing Now in order for you to apply your

and knowledge in newsletter writing, you need
Deepening to know first the writing process.
Understandi
ng
Just like in writing an expository text,
journalistic text also requires planning or
pre-writing. You can use again the
methods that I taught last meeting, what Venn diagram,
are those again? outlining, and table
ma’am.
Very good! We use these methods to know
what are the 1H and 5ws questions in the
event.

The second process is drafting. This is

where you can start writing your news
report starting from the headline, lead,
body, and the conclusion. Do not be
hesitant to write because the third step
will be:

In revising this is now where you can

improve your newsletter by checking the
mistakes from your drafts.

While revising, you are correcting the

spelling, grammar, punctuation and the
construction of your sentences through
editing.

And lastly, for the final process you will

now publish your news report in a
newsletter format through the use of
multimodal elements such images that are
related to the event.
D. Making Now can we check the outlines that you did
Generalizati during our last meeting about the Sinulog and
ons Pavvarulun Afi Festival?

Using the details that you jotted down in your

pre-writing activity, it is now time to finally
create a news report about the Sinulog and
Pavvurulun Afi Festival. Create a headline,
lead, body and details.
